I didn't quite follow the whole xbox360 backup thing for a while, so it'd be great if someone could tell me how far it is now.
As far as I know, you can just get an xbox 360, open it, connect the SATA connector of the drive to the pc but let it stay connected to xbox 360 power, flash a new firmware in DOS, and then put the drive back in and you can play pre-patched games of your own region.
But I'm not sure about all that and would like a confirmation if it is as easy as it sounds.
I've also read some guides that involve reflashing another firmware and modifiying all kinds of things extracting keys whatever. I dunno. Or maybe that is only needed if you want to create your own backups and patch them yourself?
Are there firmwares for both kinds of drives yet?
And what are those stealth patches I keep seeing?
Oh one last thing, is it true I need to burn all games on DVD9s regardless of size?
What you said is pretty much correct. I believe there are several methods to connect the 360 dvdrom to a pc. In order for the drive to read within a Windows environment it must be put into mode B. My friend used the crossed wires option but apparently this is risky however he did it successfully. For a more a reliable and probably easier way I recommend a connectivity kit.
