Need a second opinion before i buy a new disk.

Keep getting BSOD's every now and again with various error messages and diffrent files.
O&O defrag says my file system is damaged, but running chkdsk with both /f /r commands dosent cure it or fix anything as far as it is concerned the disk is fine.

i also did a fresh windows install yesterday

It does sound like the drive is dying, but without any sounds its hard to be sure. I would suggest doing a *full* format (not just a quick) using a tool other than the windows installer and then reinstalling. See how that goes, it could be badly corrupt data on the drive that isnt being removed with a quick format..

I would consider that pretty stable proof that the drive is ok. I would uninstall OO Defrag and run a windows defrag.. then try reinstalling OO and doing a run.

looks like it was my storage drive causing the problems, or maybe 2 sata ports as i swapped to the other pair and disconnected storage drive and it is working ok at the moment!

Edit: O&O defrag says the disk still has errors :/

What does Event Viewer show?

Did you change something before the problem? Like moving hardware around or changed your motherboard drivers?

Do yourself a favor and keep an eye on the Event Viewer>System log. Get to it through Control Panel>Admin Tools.

About a year ago I had some mysterious BSOD, turned out to be power supply/GFX card. Once I thought that was good I started getting file corruption. Specifically when I copied large amounts of data across two drivers. Swapped memory & changed the NVidia IDE drivers to resolve that one. That WHOLE month was tech. hell!

ok, just rebooted the pc and when it loaded windows it said it had recoverd from a serious error.
This time event viewer had a error which is

Code:

Product: Windows Operating System
Event ID: 1003
Source: System Error
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: ER_KRNLCRASH_LOG
Message: Error code %1, parameter1 %2, parameter2 %3, parameter3 %4, parameter4 %5.

Explanation
A blue screen (Stop error) was reported. The message contains details about the error. A matching event with Event ID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred.

that wasnt from a BSOD though, unless it BSOD as it was shutting down and i never saw

Can you describe the system in detail. Make of system / which version of Windows etc.

Also, have you run Memtest86 to make sure you don't have some memory issues?
