I bought a G4, 450 MHz for $90. Then had to get a keyboard for $25.
Then tho OS was 9.2 which is useless, so spent $20 to get 10.2 jaguar.
I bought this to try Mac, and now I see why I never did this before.
Mac sux. I hate the this OS.
I'll sell it to a bud, it will good for vid work.

Ok I have a Mac.
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac12,1
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 2.1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 700 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.6f1
* people run after pistol with knifes because she has a mac*
So you bought something for $90 and you are complained about it? It should be great for net stuff and for word processing stuff.
I am not too sure tonight because I have come in from being out and about.
Why would you spend money to upgrade when you can get it free, or at least try it out.

I'm gettin a mini this summer
For vid production. Amateur vid production. FOr bigger things I got access to a studio
Mini seems fine for me. I got ext hard drives and shit (used my pc) I love the interface final cut provides. It's so easy to use... i mean woa... premiere w/ audition is hella hard syncinc is easy too but requires lotta system power and my pc is shit.
That's why i'm getting a mini. Or maybe a powerbook. On the go ediditng. I dunno yet. I need a mac for school... so what better time to buy one than before school starts

I have a new MacBook, can switch between 10.4 and WinXP with ease, the best of both worlds.
And I love both OS's

How is it? Like... How AWESOME is it?
If i'm buying a macbook i'm going for the cheapest one as it is since I can't really afford a better one

All I know about macs is that they made my life easier when i had to sync the whole footage from a long talent show Everything else is just folklore to me. Like I don’t even know how to read specs for mac games

It's pretty damn awesome.
I went for the cheapest one except I put the RAM at 1 GB instead of the 512 it comes with.
No complaints at all so far.
Boot Camp is super easy to use too.

the book seems to be more and more sensetional than a mini. I just had a day dream of editing some shit on the subway. God. 1,299 for the book 100$ for the 1gb of ram... i dunno if i can carry that. Maybe i'll get some money for my b-day and then i'll add it to my mac fund

@Injurious
You go boy, defend the MAC.
I am still finding programs on mine that I never knew I had. I never had any real problems with it except it runs a bit hot.
What sucks is you can only do certain games. Or you have to wait a bit for the mac version to come out if it is popular enough. Some games don't run well either (or at least in my case) I have myst 5 and I love that game but it shuts down on me and it gets fucked and freezes everything. Fans and shit start turning on. It can't handle the gfx's I think. At some point I gotta fix that.

Apple make nice keyboards.
Here's where the mac's are good for dtp\graphics myth comes from.
Many years ago a former Xerox employee invented a technology that enabled printers to print exactly what you saw on your screen.
He started a company called Adobe.
Apple immediatley bought large shares in Adobe and used their software.
Macs became the standard for desktop publishing.
These days Macs seem to be going for style rather than performance.

That's kind of silly really. Macs were always about style, only NeXT was about performance (though still hideously expensive).
Also apple is halfway switching to x86. there's no powermac, saying theres no perf is again kind of silly imo (but then again, the differences in power are much more measurable than before).
Just for the record, I own a PC (9700 era), first gen mac mini (PPC), & all nintendo consoles except a nes.

Heh, yeah, Apple has the blessing of being able to cut off legacy support.
