Well its better than waiting for cracks that might take months, plus its very easy and quick to disable the CDROM through the bios.
Looks like things are finally looking better on the SF3 front, lets just hope it not just game specific...

Some people are just so negative, finally a small hope that Starforce will be gone, but because you either have to reboot or disable the drives he still moans....
If you again read the post you will see they may have a solution for that problem aswell... So stop ya bitching and just be happy someone has finally made progress.

I think the starforce team are required to read these forums to help prevent people cracking the latest starforce,. But its really futile, it might help sales but I wouldn't be surprised the money invested in preventing people cracking sf3x games from 2months of release goes over the increase in sales, if any.
The best way a company can prevent piracy and forbid I say it is use individual cdkeys to prevent online play if used unvalid one (or blacklisted) sure they can play sp but allot of people will want to play MP online at some point and end up buying the game..

Thanks so much for this info.
Maybe we will finally discover that by putting so much trust in their encryption scheme they forgot a plan B.
For Soldiers: they don't even bother to use a personal serial number....online play is wide open!!! (A new patch will be out mid-September; the protection will of course be updated).
One thing is certain ....the challenge is again on his side. It’s up to him to spend white nights to find a new way to avoid the no files on cd hack.
This is a generic hack that can be used for all the SF3 games (except the one on DVD toca2). The worst nightmare for a protection programmer: all the games fall in one go.
Things slowly get back to normal…a protection appears …we need some time to figure out how it works…the protection is cracked….that’s the way it is…that’s the way it will stay.
One thing is certain: the Russian programmer of this protection is really too confident about his work…in this case it was his mistake.

Its not the programmer who is over confident, it is the publisher who is so certain that SF3 is the only thing needed.
But dont worry, Im sure SF will come back and show its full strength again and make crackers scratch their heads. This is a small hickup and youll see protections again to be more complex.

take the original bin/cue, mount it with alcohol, then start the image making wizard and it will then save it as mds/mdf files. follow the rest of the instructions.

Well I must say. I have tried this with Beyond Divinity and Gangland as well. Reading with Alcohol 120% at 2x speed with the Starforce 1/2/3 profile and it has worked both times. Even with their newest patches. Dont like to play games that I cant make a backup of since the CD goes thru so much wear and tear. But this is nice. It worked perfectly the way it was suggested. Can now play them both without having to have the CDs in. Had to turn off the IDE controller in BIOS< but the machine boots so quickly, who cares. Anyhow. these 2 work using this way of duplicating them.

I bought Beyond Divinity when it came out hopinh to be able to play it with a friend. So its a backup of my original, altho using a release, with the mini image should work fine. Also I used the image from my original to install it, then disabled my IDE channel and used the mini image mounted and worked without a hitch. The mini images are what you create after editing the image with UltraIso. They are quite small I think Gangland is 102k total and Beyond Divinity is 68k total. So at the moment this is a work around to Starforce 3.

maybe its also possible to just burn these mini images so that you won't have to unplug youre ide drives..but i think that will then again depends on youre cd reader and media to get it to work.

I wanted to give it a try with Toca race driver 2 but the "starforce 1/2/3 profile" is not available when in DVD mode. Any suggestion?
