Hi guys, haven't posted in a while. I'm not dead, I'm not off an Oblivion binge (ok, maybe...) and I do want to ask a question.

Is there any reliable program that'll quickly process a 2+ hour MP3 file and boost its volume? I was looking into mp3gain, but I've never tried it, so I don't know how fast or useful it is for a large file.

The process I use (the PSP PMPMod process) spits out [usually] an mp3 file @ 128kbps, and I'd rather avoid large distortions in quality. At the same time, BeLight doesn't offer a volume boost opition in the GUI, so I'm not sure how to proceed (importing into soundforge and saving is a 20-30 minute process all on it's own.)

Thanks for the help.

You can boost the volume with Goldwave? , That's what I use for most of my audio editing.

I'm guessing GoldWave has to load the entire clip in and process it, which might be fine for a 5 minute song, but takes forever and a half for a 2:50 hr movie.

I'm looking for a straight-up high-throughput util that processes the file without taking an hour to load the entire damn thing into memory, and has a capability to boost audio.

That would be good, however I use headphones more often than not (I mostly watch movies on the train, where speakers would be both annoying and insufficient) so that wouldn't help. I'm looking for a software solution, preferably converter-side.

are you using the standard Sony PSP Headphones? if so, Pop them open and remove the resistor which sony put in to make them "Ear Friendly" Smile
