I will probably not feel so good after watching this... nonetheless I will watch it. I think anyone should see it to get a good perspective on what radiation does.

Yea.. I believe some of the 'facts' are over exaggerated. Everything mentioned was in excess of anything i'd heard before but never the less even with the wide range it's still shocking. I want to finish watching it because apparently there's 'more' shocking things and twists etc. and problems in the future from chernobyl i.e. another eruption but I just cant stomach it at the mo.
edit: fuck it I know i'm not allowed to post links to warez etc. but this is fascinating so pm me people if you're interested :/

Don't take my word for it, i'm just an emo faggot but really I think it's something everyone should see just for the shock factor.
It's quite saddening too because there's kids like 17 years old in hospital with thyroid cancer and stuff and the doc takes the reporter out of the girls room and tells her that she (the girl in the room) may have cancer elsehwere but the girl doesn't know.
O and spunk.... No I dont think so. I'm pretty sure the kid's disabled for the rest of her life too.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

I don't understand the hype about this just now, this sickening stuff have been going on there for years since the "accident"/failed experiment, i was down in chernobyl (not the plant itself, just the area) 2.5 years ago and saw some of the people that's been severly affected by the radiation. we even came to close to some areas and the military came and chased us off. my camera film got confiskated and all that shit. something is seriously wrong with a country when you have to bribe the military not to get in trouble with them. Basicly got told to give them 100 usd's or they'd take us in.
mutated cattle, areas with 100% dead animal and plant life not even a freaking bird or such. i've feelt for the people there for years, but the worls have never really bothered. hopefullt this doc will bring peoples attention to the people that live there and help them in whateverways they can.

I'm actually from Ukraine (the country where Chernobyl happened), and I'm quite surprised people still live in that area. It seems like anyone who was in the area would be evacuated and/or move a long time ago. And the radiation does influence a lot of Ukraine in a passive way (a lot of people, for example, avoid watching TV or sitting in front of a computer, or even eating certain foods, because they might contain radiation. They're quite paranoid about it down there.

Its a good documentary, cause I believe there arent many about it with real images (atleast I havent seen many others), but I wasnt so shocked (which was a surprise, since I have a bad feeling about radiation, even when I just think about it, something really strange, could be 'cause I watched a Chernobyl movie when I was a kid).
One thing that is wrong, IMO, is to keep that kids alive. The abandoned ones with really bad mutations, that have absolutely zero chance of surviving more than a few years (mostly in pain)... I think they should be killed in a painless way.

Well ive seen a documentary recently on NTV about the accident.
There were actually people who were in the reactor, below the reactor in the cooling systems as well as below that in hte tunnel built under the reactor to help prevent fuel from going through the concrete walls down into the earth.
Amazingly they didnt find the 96% or whatever of fuel. and 96% is like 190 tonnes. They found just a few heaps of concrete mixed with uranium iridium and other radioactive elemnts. So the conclusion from the scientists that 96% of the fuel is still there is wrong. Most of it came out in small particles and are still in the air. Chernobyl radio active dust was found as far as Japan.
The are no people living in Pryp'yat' although there are people living in vilagaes inside the 30 km zone. There is actually a museum somewhere near by which has models of the reactor what happened and so on.
The sad fact is that we havent actually come to the worst effects of radiation. As hirosima showed the peak will be 30-40 years after teh accident. Right now we are at 20 years. So in the next ten 15 years people who are now somewhat healthy will get cancer or some other disease which is really sad.
The really sad bit is the fact that all this happened because some smart ass wanted to get home earlier to go to a wedding. By common practice he should have waited 12 hours, instead he raised the power level of the generator, which resulted in it going out of control, all the cooling modules got to exteme tempretures and the metal which was surrounding them expanded and could no longer drop into the generator. Overheating -> boom.
For the Motherland!

From what I've heard from the Discovery Channel Documentary it happened because they did a test to see how much power they could get from the reactor. They kept pulling out more and more from it but the manager were sure it was going to be able to handle it and kept pushing even though others warned him during the experiment. Turns out he got a shitload of radiation in him, was found guilty for the accident, jailed and died of cancer 10 years later.
