i think this hack will be harder to do for little kiddy cheaters, so the amount of cheaters might just stay the same. and why are some people against this, dont you want the 360 hacked.
this is one big step to do that.

well if its just sort of firmware flash then it'll be easy to do. As for xbox live and people moaning about the increase of cheaters if this works for xbox live, who cares - more people more fun, certainly no worse than Pc online gaming

This is very interesting but afaik the 360 has a unique serial number in every DVD-ROM firmware probably used for encryption so this may not work on 360. Also I'm not sure what I should think about such a hack for the 360. I could live without homebrew games/emulators/media players/etc. but it would suck that you would be only able to play games from the region of your console and you won't be able to switch the region of your Xbox with a video mode selector. Also you won't be able to copy games you rented somewhere (unless you're a fan of the PC hot-swap method).

trust me ive been following this guys progess, its not fake. i could tell you how it was done, but it might not be completely accurate. he will release it when hes perfected the firmware.

perhaps one reason he is not releasing it is because the similarities with the xbox360 DVD firmware. If it would be released now MS would analyze it and change the X360 firmware ASAP.
Maybe we can expect a 360 hack pretty soon...

all seems pretty academic since MS have just released a neccesary firmware update on their live service, seems a firmware upgrade is included which locks out the store demo disc

I think the thing that blocks the Kiosk demo disc is something added to the dashboard and not a dvd firmware update...

This completes our work on the XBOX 1. The drive I modded was a 8050L. The good news is that the firmware in this drive is very similar to the firmware in the GDR3120, used in the XBOX 360. I think it's time for me to buy one now
