Most likely. Just when I got myself a card that performs acceptable in 3DMark2005. Damn.

We will introduce a plethora of new and improved effects in the next 3DMark. HDR is maybe one of the coolest new effects that we have done. We know that there are some games out already using HDR, but we wanted our HDR to “go to eleven” (one louder). We are using a very complex and advanced post-processing effect for our HDR rendering which makes it look absolutely amazing, and it really works like a charm. You should be able to see some of it in the screen shot we have provided for this interview. Of course we also use tone mapping, which is essential in order to make HDR look correct. But we didn’t stop there. We also wanted to create some other mind-blowing effects such as subsurface scattering effect in the shaders, HDR refraction & reflection water shaders with depth fog, heterogeneous fog, realistic sky model with cloud blending, Strauss lighting model etc. A lot of new things we haven’t had in previous 3DMarks. Of course we also made a lot of work with the shadows, so we will be introducing an even better approach to dynamic soft shadows for every object on screen than we have in 3DMark05. We are really pleased with what we have been able to produce in such a short time, and I’m really looking forward to hear the reactions from our users and the media professionals.

Blablabla...
in short- If u like watching 3D slideshows download now cause we made some kick-ass efx that only u will be able to run it smoothly on 18000GTUBERX 5GiG of ram in near future like in 5 years or so with average of 50fps Laughing

what are you trying to tell us ELIZ? Confused
it's a benchmark, and as a benchmark it does what it should: max out current high-end machines

IMHO benchmarks are useless as they only show gfx performance and nothing else. Game benchmarking is the best as then you will AI calculations added too.

Last time I ran a benchmark was when 3dmark 2003 was released and that was really some POS. If I did the test with the built in Soundstorm I got about 200points more than if I used my Audigy... Razz

Agreed. I'm running every racing game on 1600x1200 here, very satisfied with my 6600GT. Now, 3DMark will come and tell me I got a shitty card. Well, I don't care, if real games perform the way are supposed to.

Damn I remember being one of the first people who owned a 6800Ultra Card. And almost breaking 6000 Points with it when 3dmark2005 came out.

Now my card is looking old Neutral Im not even gonna bother with 3dmark06. I will most likely end up with a score of 2300/2400 with that card.

Wait till I get my hands on the Geforce 7900 card, then I'll be the one going MUAH HAHA HA HA, just like I did when I first got the 6800Ultra card. MUAH HAHA Very Happy

however you guys are wrong in that its also a god way of finding your max stable overclocks. its well known the 3dmark03 test mother nature heats up the gpu like nio other so when looking for max clocks if you can loop this particular test a few times with no artifacts your gfx card is stable at those speeds. great for after voltmodding your gfx cards to find max o/c.

also remember that many of us dont pay for the download either so who cares if majority of those that use it pay and willy wave.
