|
 |
Bloody hell what and mission getting home tonight was.
There's me travelling to the pub for a light refreshment after a days work and I become one of the first people on scene to a head on collision involving one car and one people carrier.
Both car's were in a complete state, engine squashed etc...
- I asked the drivers "is everyone ok?" They replied "yes, well no, well sort of".
- I said "Is anyone hurt?" they replied "slight cut to the head, nothing too serious"
- I said "have you called the police, ambulance" they said "no, maybe we should".
By now I could see that the people were ok amazingly so I told them I would ring the ambulance. What a bloody mistake that was!
It took 5 mins to get to someone that could help (bare in mind this was a 999 number on a tuesday night) and when I finally got through:
- I said "i need a ambulance to *Road name* just by the grasshoper pub on the way into *town name* just next to a road called *road name*.
- They replied "so is that near *place name*, and which grasshopper pub is it - is it in the town or just outside the town?"
- I replied with the most exact details of the location (bare in mind my whole life has been around the area of the incident).
- They replied "can you go into the pub to get the road name?"
- I said "not really, im telling you the location already" (I had the exact road names)
This lasted for a further 20 mins while they located where I was.
- Then I said "Look i got to go, these people need my help and the traffic is building"
- They replied "I appreciate that but where are you whats the road name"
I was so frustrated, it was unbelievable. How the hell can they not use todays technology - GPS locating on a phone would be a good bit of kit to use then.
If I gave anyone else a map and told them where I was they would find it in seconds. Someone could of been dying - thank god there wasnt death's involved or major injuries otherwise I think I would of taken that 999 call to court for inproffessional conduct.
After sorting out the traffic and re-directing people afterwards the police arrived (after 30 mins) another flop as there is another division of police that could of been there quicker but because they are based for the motorway they couldnt dispatch.
Well I guess it's over now, but I thought I would enlighten you about how slow and bad they can be. Hopefully it was a one of case, and wont happen again as Im sure it could of led to loss of life if the injuries were worse.

Is that like 911?
911 operator's in Canada are pretty good Id say. Only had to call emergency twice, both times they were very helpful
Still, least you stayed around to help the ppl

Thats fucked up...I thought 911 was used everywhere as a standard emergency number...good thing I found this shit out.
What if i went to the UK, got my ass kicked by some drunken manchester fans and had to go to the hospital? I wouldnt think of dialing 999
