Yup thats the game that'll without a doubt push me into getting a 360 (If I haven't already got one by then), multiplayer sounds sick and I don't see much on any current or forthcoming machine within the near future in the same genre competing with it plus I've always been a huge fan of Cliffy B so I expect big things from it.
I watched that Gears of War Race to E3 Special the other day, good stuff indeed.

Nailbiter wrote: | ffs what about rock stars ping pong game!?
haha but seriously, there sure is some promising titles coming up (table tennis included). |
play.com are selling that title at near enough budget price Nailbiter....£26.99 (budget by 360 standards I guess) - the link incase you haven't seen it and shopping at that store is an option. http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/918089/Table_Tennis/Product.html I would want to see the game in action, the game mechanics, what is going to make the game special/addictive, the multiplayer aspect, leaderboards, unlockables, planned Xbox Live support and all that malarkey before I spent money on a title like that. Merely being a showcase for the 360's raw power isn't enough for me....thats what Gears of War is for, I've said it before and I'll say it again a ping pong controller peripheral would have made that game so much more buyable.
Nailbiter wrote: | do you have a link to the race e3 gears of war btw? i only saw a link to mtv before, but it wont recognize my op-system...thinks im using win95 or win98! |
it was this scene release that I watched "gears.of.war.the.race.to.e3.ws.dsr.xvid-umd", Im not an MTV fan only have MTV UK at the moment and I would be surprised if they aired the program - im sure knowing you and how fast you get the Xbox releases you'll have that release down the line within minutes, im shocked you haven't watched it.
heres the dates for re-air btw if you have MTV2 or can't get your hands on it.

Nah, I saw it and read some of the threads and posted into one. To be honest im selective about what sections I read and post into on this forum without any disrespect to the people on this forum I don't think its what it used to be for several obvious reasons and its nothing to do with people requesting or people with less than 100-1000 posts maybe thats why people like GP Force don't post here anymore? - I wouldn't post on the site myself were it not for that fact that the Console Arena has a dozen or so members whom I enjoy conversing with and the majority of threads within the section manage to maintain a basic level of maturity and mutual respect.
sorry for off topic on your thread bouli

Both Painkiller & Painkiller Battle Out Of Hell were boring shooters on the PC so don't get too excited the XBoX version will be much better - let's have a sequel to Black instead !

Whats stopping you playing the PC version bouli? pc specs or just wanted to play it on a console?.
Nailbiter wrote: | omg, i totally forgot about starcraft: ghosts. it just faded away under my radar somehow, until the blip was erased.
yeah, seriously bouli67, look forward to another game instead, like stalker or dnf! |
yep its a real shame that game might never see the light of day - capture the flying fortress multiplayer mode sounded awesome the gameplay videos of it were sweet. Both teams wrestling for control of a flying fortress, touching down on it using vehicles, gaining control and piloting the fortress back into their teritory whilst the other team assault it, trying to take control themselves.
Thing about it is though Nailbiter this might not bother you that much because the rumours are that Blizzard might just make the game for next gen instead so seems as you have a 360 just another title for you to pick up when it does come out. Would be great over Xbox Live as well think about the stuff Blizzard could do with it, new maps/vehicles, premium content etc.
I saw the other big rumour on IGN of MS planning on doing a handheld machine, now that could be interesting.
Im still looking forward to Bully what with it being a Rockstar game, was kind of hoping that they would also bring out Vice City Stories on Xbox but may just buy it for PS2 as its only £14.99, im waiting for some form of reviews though. Would have been nice to see a Guitar Hero game on Xbox just so more peeps get the chance to play the game (wouldn't buy it myself though already have the controllers and game for PS2 and wouldn't splash out another £50 for the Xbox version unless there were MAJOR improvements, Live/online play is supposedly never gonna happen anyway due to latency and thats one of the things that everyone wants). Theres still Flatout 2, Just Cause and a few other titles including Splinter Cell which I'd rather play on next gen but I agree its disappointing how many games are being canned after what looked like a decent release list at the start of the year - inevitable though Xbox has had a great lifespan IMO and I imagine the majority of people that are complaining are the ones that were late onto the machine.

hmmm, if it comes out for next-gen i guess they have to build it up from the beginning again, with new gfx-engine etc, since that definetly should be outdated by now? my guess to why blizzard didnt decide to release the game was that they didnt want a bad game tied to their name. since they are a brand known for quality, releasing this could have been a devastating blow. or thats what they figured at least. i might be wrong though.
and lol plz no handheld from m$! i guess it would be...green!? x-boy!?
yeah bully looks pretty sweet, as does flatout 2. i cant recall any other games worth checking out for xbox at this point, except if guitar hero would come! damn you star, you hyped me too much about this game! anyway, my biggest problem about games right now is that its hard to go back from 360 resolution to xbox. i just got an 50" tv and the xbox games just look horrible in comparisment. the ones i do play of the old xbox games have to be really good quality titles so i can forget about the shady gfx, like ninja gaiden, warriors, oddworld:sw...and so on, gta games works well, they didnt look that good to begin with.
actually im playing the new hitman on the xbox, and i brought home the 360 demo and compared the game at the very same place in the same stage and oboy, there is major difference. i might put up a picture later today.

Nice TV
Yep, I bought the Hitman collectors edition and have been playing through on a PC that runs pretty much every game maxed out and its a really great effort by the developers, IMO the most complete title in the series by a long stretch and a very, very polished game. I noted the difference between the PC game and the Xbox game, differences which you couldn't show on a photo or even a screengrab you have to see the game moving realtime to get the full effect as you said, still thought it was good looking for an Xbox game though.
Yeah, sorry about the constant raving about Guitar Hero its super addictive and easily my most played game this year, its rare that when I get a game I complete it on easy, normal, hard and then try to conquer expert mode plus try to achieve perfect ratings (the direct comparison would be the feeling when playing through Gaiden), in this the learning curve and fun involved with thrashing out tunes makes it that you never really get bored and the addition of some news songs would breath even more life into the game - if you saw the E3 stage demo when the developers were playing Guitar Hero 2 and then at the end of the song they went on to literally smash hell out of there controllers then hand out the pieces to the audience you'll have a grasp of just how much fun it is. I even saw a blog of someone busking at a subway using Guitar Hero on a PS2 with one of the clip on LCD screens and a portable power supply - surreal.
Haven't smashed my controller up yet, too expensive for that.

Hardest songs in my opinion are:-
Pantera, Cowboys from Hell - played at lightning speed, with loads of hammer ons/pull offs and a ridicolously fast and lengthy solo. Its a track which actually gives you a sore hand/arm when strumming the pace is that fast and relentless.
Ozzy Osbourne, Bark at the Moon - chord heavy, lightning fast and in common with the Pantera track really only playable on the later difficulties by people who are very good at the game.
No One Knows and Crossroads are also tricky on the later levels.
Nailbiter wrote: | about hitman, yeah its a nice game. i guess im more of a splinter cell player though, usually i get frustrated in this game, which of course leads to mass-slaughter. nice that one has the option to do that. the ai seems smart sometimes, but sometimes not.
another really cool thing about the xbox version is how many can actually be at the screen at the same moment. like in new orleans, brings back memories to enemy of the state (or what that old game from rockstar was called). i thought this huge ammount of people was limited to the x360/pc, but sure enough, there is the mob. |
It was like that for me at first then I started exploring the points of interest and setting stuff up to look like accidents (like on that new orleans level I set up a piano to fall on someones head lol). I think the thing that generally leads to me going on a killing spree is that at times im impatient so don't seek out isolated people leading to me getting rumbled whilst stealing their clothes and hiding the body, which in turn leads to me killing the witness and in the worst case scenario I get caught while hiding his body too leading to me having to rampage my way through a level at which point I generally restart. I didn't really find much use for the other weapons either, Silverballers with silencer do the business every time.

Yeah I completely agree its punk for the MTV generation, I think in part they have a hard job trying to please everyone as you can see on the Guitar Hero forums with the wishlist thread (everyone has such good ideas), in part its to do with money and licensing the tracks as the devs said themselves and finally its about providing variety. Theres a real difference between playing something like the Ramones in game where its all just chords and chord changes then going across to play something like Cream or The Edgar Winter Group where there technically more difficult bluesy numbers then you have your tracks by Audioslave and Incubus which are more about playing repeating hooks with clinical precision then ripping it up on the chorus - even if you dont like the tracks it really works from a variety point of view the bonus tracks are proof of this.
The sequel on the other hand is going to have 55 tracks including of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," Reverend Horton Heat's "Psychobilly Freakout," Rush's "YYZ," Van Halen's "You Really Got Me," KISS' "Strutter," and the Butthole Surfers "Who Was In My Room Last Night," as well as an official tune by GH bonus song mainstays Drist and a previously unannounced song, that being Primus' "John the Fisherman."
The co-ops also going to be expanded to the point where one player will play lead and another will play base, so I would expect some of the tracks are going to focus heaviily on good base lines and feature some of the best base players in music history.
Im going to stop raving about this one though it be Novemeber at the earliest until its out and I think everyone gets the picture that I fooking love this game, the fact that it won best parlor/puzzle/trivia game of E3 in a category that includes some of those very original Nintendo Wii games that use the new controller says alot.
