As I posted on Nforce earlier, I am looking at getting a new big screen TV. I am also hoping it to be my primary computer monitor. I am making this post as a resource as well as getting some input from you guys.

I have found out that Plasma is no good for a few reasons. It has a chance of burn in, and the resolutions aren't any good. LCD on the other hand, can support much better resolutions and has no chance at a burn in.

I have made that post and I hope for anyone who may be looking into doing the same as I am, that this can help you. Any of you guys have opinions on the television I chose?

Yes, in the AnAndtech post there is discussion of pixil mapping.

ST from AnAndTech wrote:
A couple of things to warn you about. The LCDTV you showed is looks like an OEM BENQ 37" model. Although it has a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, it CANNOT take in 1080p input. I believe it will be pixel mapped to 1376x768 or something like that instead. There are only a few 37" LCD TV's on the market today that will do 1080p, thus 1:1 pixel mapping of 1920x1080 for computer monitor use: Westinghouse 37" and Sceptre 37".

I have a 26inch LCD-TV connected to my computer as a secondary screen. It's great for watching hdtv stuff on it, but to be honest i wouldn't use it as my primary device due to the size of it. It has a resolution of 1280x720 (only 720p), so the icons and everything else appears pretty big on screen, and you have to have a greater distance between you and the lcd, and my desktop isn't that big, that's why i put it on a tv stand where my old tv was. I also have my sat receiver connected to it. I would recommand you use it as a secondary device for watching movies etc and for playing games in widescreen, thats also very nice Smile

Well, I'm going to be sitting across the room from it. Like I've gotten myself a sofa bed, and I'm using it to sit or lie on with a wireless and keyboard and mouse. I'f I'm going to be that far away, a decent sized resolution will be good.

This television supports 1366 x 768 which is a tad higher than your television. I am thinking maybe you raise a valid point though, after reading some new discussion on anandtech. Should I just look for a higher resolution period or a would a 1280x768 work?

I think a 1280x768 would work, just make sure that it supports that new encrypted dvi port for the upcoming hd-dvd's (i think it's called hdmi - not sure though). And i can only advice you to go in a store first and take a look at the screen you want to buy. There are still LCD-TV out there wich have a terrible tv picture (not from pc source but cable or sat). I did the same, i went to big store and looked up a couple of tv's i've read about and i chose the best one (of course i ordered it on the internet later on to save some bucks Wink ).
