I guess this might wanna be in the hardware forum but its more of a Im so pissed off right now post so its going here!
I work in a computer store and ordered some new stock yesterday which included a socket 754 amd 64 cpu for a custom build required for TODAY and the fucktards sent me a socket 939!
It doesnt say on the CPU which socket it is as its an OEM processor. At first the thing had a few bent pins too which I straightened out as best I could and then I spent a good 15 minutes looking for more as I couldnt figure out why it wouldnt fit into the 754 board!
So then I put the model number on the CPU into google and it came up as a 939!
FOR FUCKS SAKE!
I wont get a replacement till tomorrow and the customer wants it today! I still have yet to call him up and tell him the good news!
I've had worse probs with CPUs. When puttin 1 in I was shakin so much I fucked it up. Paste went on a few pins and then I forgot to lift the lever (zero insertion force) and just rested the cpu on top (even though I thought it was in). It took me a while to realise and when I took it out there was paste in the socket and a few pins were bent. I was obsolutely crapping myself it was unreal.

I have resolved the situation by first getting pissed at my suppliers and then Im keeping the 939 CPU and returning the 754 board and gonna get that swapped for a 939 board and if they fuck it up again tomorrow, god help them! The customer wasnt happy about the delay but he wasnt quite as annoyed about it as I thought he would be!

and yes thank fuck the CPU worked. I was shaking like mad it was unreal. I still couldnt believe I just rested it on top. I screwed the heatsink in (could only get 1 sid inthough) and I booted the Pc too. I'm so surprised it didnt just blow or at least snap a pin or 2. (I did have it the right way around at least which kinda saved it a bit) I got some tissue on it and tweezers. I didnt clean all the paste from the socket but it worked still so I was mighty relieved .

I cracked my first cpu (that wasn't a slot cpu) I was trying to put on the heatsink fan and I put to much pressure on the die and it cracked. I am now in extreme fear of putting on the heatsink fan to any of my pc's. Wasting 200 bucks is something I don't want to do.
Still waiting for the couriers for fuck sake! They're late! Where's my board goddammit?!
Edit: Yay! Board arrived and its all built and working! I did have one unforeseen issue tho! The mainboard required a 24 pin connector from the PSU and all the PSUs I have here are only 20 pin! Thankfully a local computer store helped me out with a convertor!
