It is upon us.
now normally I cou;dn't give a toss about the PSP but this is good news! (in a way)
http://www.wab.com/
What this program does, is trick games that require firmware version 1.52 or 2.0 to run on your 1.50 or 1.0 PSP.
The implications are huge. You won't have to run the updates that are required by new UMD games, simply load this EBOOT, and it makes the system run the game anyways.
As an extra benefit, if you try to run the 1.52 or 2.0 updater on your 1.5 PSP using this EBOOT, it won't update. Think of it as a sort of 1.5 firmware update protector. No more accidently flashing your firmware.
From the .nfo file:
Yoshihiro and WAB are proud to bring you The First Firmware Trickz for Gamez that need Firmware 1.52 or 2.0 to run on your PSP and Cant Run UPDATER 1.52 or 2.0. The System think it's a PSP v1.52 or 2.0 even if its a v1.5, or 1.0.
You can select which Firmware version you want to display: 1.0, 1.5, 1.51, 1.52, or 2.0.
Want to change your firmware back, just re-run the eboot and reset it to it's original version.

Hey folks!
I just bought the euro PSP here in Norway. It shipps with version 1.52 and a 2.0 update on the demo disk (that I haven't run yet). I also bought Lumines and it hade an Upgrade to 1.50. Trying to run that update the PSP tells me I have a newer version, of course.
My point is, if I use this version changer and set it to 1.0 and then try to run the 1.50 update would that work? If so it would be a wonderful way to Downgrade...
(I'll try it myself and write the result soon)

I can only recommend you wait for an actual downgrader... You might turn it into a brick.

There are people that tried what I described above. When doing that the update stops at 99% and tell the user to send the PSP to Sony for repair.

When updating firmware you need the power adapter to be plugged in. Are you *sure* you know what your doing ? |

and i am sorry that ive never done this b4 so no i dont know wot im doing ive only had the psp a few days
u got nowhere if u dont ask , im not gonna run something without finding out a bit more
we've all been there and im sure u have been in a position where u r not *sure* wot u was doing and had to ask

Is there ANY way at all to use this or a different version changer(if one exists!) or another method to change the firmware without plugging in the AC adapter!?
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Just a little warning when useing the version changer, remember to 'Restore Factory Defaults' if you're gonna update! Or you will not see the Update text. I wonder if there are more bugs with that versionchanger?
oh and btw, Why shouldn't you be able to run homebrew if you've used the versionchanger?! I hear people say this but I dont understand why, its only versioninfo it changes!

Yea, that version changer just tricks the PSP, i tried it and set my PSP to 1.52 and all homebrew still works fine.
@headshot.
Im not totally sure but i dont think there is, plugging in the AC adaptor is a safety feature so the PSP will not turn off by acident when your updating.

Ahh I see but that totally sucks coz if you go portable it means you have to cart around the AC adapter and bulky power pack and it wont fit in my PSP size case :/
