|
 |
This to me seems like a good idea, I mean, sure it is a type of requesting and could potentially add a "new level" to the site, but then again, it could also add more value to the forum/site. There are obvious things the admins would have to consider when it comes to this, such as the legalities of bringing the site a little step closer to being part of the scene, personally I don't feel its that big a leap or anything which would cause a problem, but its fine for me to think that being only a user.
Lets not make this into a "WE WANT THIS BLAH BLAH" fight with the admins, it is mearly an idea I feel would be useful and helpful, while also understanding the limitations of NFOrce and the risks it may incure. Please also consider this when replying.
Just as another point, it could be kept as a "private" forum only accessable to those who have a certain number of posts, this should stop the warez kiddies from attacking it asking for teh torrents..
What do you guys think?

the idea is good, but since some sites put tags and stuff into their sfv files nowadays, it might be too much hassle for the nfo updaters to clean those out. Its hard enough to cross out the serials as it is already, although i havent seen one popping up in an nfo here in quite a while now...
EDIT: i d love to see a site have sfvs for mp3 releases though to check out if a p2p release was only scene-raped or home-grown

Sorry to burst your bubble people, but thats not going to happen. Here's the reason:
SFV's contain original filenames, filenames with which people could help themselfs in their adventure hunts, hence the big need of having them i suppose. It could get us in lots of trouble, and as you know, its against forum rules. On top of that, we're a news site, not a warez verification page.
Hope you understand our situation, for the time being at least, this idea will need to wait alittle longer.

Totally understand [mrt] thanks for taking the time to answer! As I said in the original post, the idea was bound to have some pretty meaty issues following it, but its always fun to see what people think of an idea !
Feel free to close this mods !

I see what you mean, but NFOs also contain the file name..
Its ok, sfv's are usually in the pack with the files anyway... It would have been good to have it but when you look at it like you said "warez verification page", it makes it sound bad

This is the dumbest shit, youll get BT/P2P/Usenet kids flooding asking for sfvs as other means you do get a sfv

I would just have an sfv icon beside the nfo icon available for download.
no requesting or anything just include it as a feature that nforce does.
On a side note, I think it would generate more traffic since alot of people will come to get the sfv file to double check their download to make sure its the original scene rls files.
more traffic = posibility of more banner clicks = more $$$
So it would be a big help, and might put a few more $$$ into the site.

its never gonna happen.
reason1:
cuz I say so... sorry
reason2:
we're NOT condoning warez/piracy etc...
besides - $ from the banner ads are atm nowhere near enough.. we still pay out of our own pockets.. what we'ld like is for users to contribute instead so we can eventually be an ad free website/community - like how the entire "INTARWEB" should be..
