Hell yeah, from the bitching section to the useless section.

Quick recap:
- Lived in constant hell in the Dom Republic, last straw was getting a gun to my face and losing a US$1500 laptop.
- Fuck it, got married, moved to the US, got my severance pay, moved to nj.
- Got a good developer job, savings going up, wife has an even better job than me with a promising future.
- Got my dream pc setup, monitors, fanatec wheels, Quest 2
- Race car arrived to the US, stored in miami for a while
- Bought a Tundra from an auction, repossession, well engine was bad, rod knock, ffs, BUT i had savings, i could afford to get it a new engine. Now its at home
- Planning to move from NJ as me and my wife work remotely.
- Maybe buy a house next year if we can agree on a state with some race tracks.

Its amazing how huge this change was for me. I should have done this shit years ago ffs.

Anyways, im happy as hell, maybe i wish i had a garage to work on the car, store it etc which has proven to be so hard here. But overall for 1 year in the US? i feel it was totally worth it. Now lets just avoid some fucking healthcare bills. Thanks, this is my last remaining "community" lets say as most of the old ones have desintegrated. Thanks for sticking around, always fun to roam around here.

Very nice to hear how you took things in your hands and advanced in your life!

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Congrats man!
Glad you are in a lot better place and happier in life!
Sounds like a lot is going your way, and a lot of future to actually look forward to.

My first thought as well, that's not the Lopin I know. Who is this hopeful, relaxed and oddly sanguine imposter? Dude Sad

Just kidding, glad that life is smiling at you mate. Looks like you're one of the lucky ones who found the American Dream Very Happy

Ankh, i had it good actually, 80% of the salaried people have an income below a monthly salary of 30k pesos, most of them average around 18-20k, professionals. Thats.... 30k = 500usd a month for professional. 30k is nothing in dr, rent in an affordable single family place is around 15-20k. So start imagining that. I made over 100k a month and came out with no savings (my only luxury is racing and i was frugal as hell on it)

Ill tell you the things that instantly changed my day by day mood compared to DR:
- The traffic, its fucking horrendous, people drive like shit, aggresive as fuck. Driving in the US immediately felt like therapy.
- The dangers, everyone is hustling and any wrong step will get you robbed or your phone snatched in any place. Its not uncommon at all.
- I got a job (in the us) that i feel the salary is waaaay down from where i should be and with my wife working and me, our savings skyrocketed in 5-6 months.

Just those 3 things have turned my mood around so hard. I have gone back a couple of times to do some paperwork and car shipping stuff and it just stressful to drive, to try to get anything done. Ugh, no, naaaaahhh

If you are a tourist, good income or retirement, you can live there, beautiful tourism areas, rural places are beatufiful and chill, people retire there and live blissfully, maybe i will someday but in the city? nah.

Edit: Thinking back, dominicans are hard workers, they can handle a lot of pain and survive, its a must and a lot of them are very nice and receive everyone with open arms. But man i saw too much of the bad side, nah no more, a lot of people are happy there, so much freedom and lawlessness
