I haven't been following this new weird show much* (only the premiere) but from what I could understand it's a more complicated situation than it seems. There is genuine filth hidden beneath the glossy Hollymask and it's damn great that it's finally being exposed, but at the same time there's a sense of delirium growing that makes you question the veridicity of some of the claims since this is a very particular era that we're living in.
On one hand I'm glad that the many Hollypredators/creepy perverts/paedobears and whatnot living in that environment are finally on the pedestal of shame, on the other one there's the fact that it's so easy to ruin somebody's else life these days through one simple click of the mouse before justice runs its course that it's natural to have at least a bit of scepticism in some cases. That said, *grabs popcorns*

I doubt that most of them have actually been raped or threatened that's my point. Getting looked at the wrong way, groped on the ass, or being cyberbullied is enough to qualify for survivor status nowadays. It only takes away the attention from the real victims of rape, threats and violence if everything is put on the same level without differentiation.

It's not really about how far the abuse went in each case, it's about the power these sick bastards wield against young women trying to get into the business. Inside the industry you simply don't report it since the accused have the power (and connections) to make you a persona non grata in the chosen industry. They are simply being bullied and taken advantage of.
All these rotten eggs deserve to be exposed, boycotted and sentenced. How would you like it if some fat producer or director used his power to ejaculate on your back, manipulating you and keeping you in fear of repercussions if you mention what happened to you?
The reason we should care is that the pain is mainly mental and can fuck you up for good after someone like Brett Ratner abuse his position and power in the industry to fulfill his sex-addiction by using pressure, manipulation and threats.

Bullshit article. The movie touches on this exact topic but oh no, it's a horrible movie because the girl in the movie actually wants to benefit from a rich older guy. Oh no, that's unrealistic.
Hugh Heffner died alone and single, he didn't have dozens of young beautiful girls around him who willingly had sex with hi... what's that? He DID? Oh dear, seems the cunt writing the article is completely wrong and some women WILL prostitute themselves to get a role in a movie and DID sleep with actors/directors willingly hoping they'd make them famous.
Bottom line: this whole scandal is for at LEAST 90% bullshit. The only ones speaking up, are those who no longer have anything to lose or who hope to get put in the spotlights once more. In other words: either those famous enough that no-one can hurt them, or those who got spit out by Hollywood with a few chips on their shoulders. The "I slept with director A hoping to get a big role but he only gave me a small one so he raped me" type of thing.
Basically, it's not like this sort of thing wasn't well known about Hollywood. If you're a young pretty actress or even actor, and you don't stand out from the crowd, fucking someone high up was a good way to get noticed and plenty of actors and actresses gladly used this method and many actors, I guarantee you, got where they are by doing exactly this. But either you accept this and go with the flow, or you get out. You don't bitch about it years and kick up a huge fuss, shoving all blame away from you.
Because, let's get one thing clear: it's because of all those actresses who ARE willing to fuck for a role that these directors and producers expect the same of actresses who AREN'T.
Now, don't get me wrong: it's a sick sub-culture, I realise that all too well, but it's a KNOWN sick sub-culture. It's like when you want to become a top model: you know it's fucked up, there's drugs and anorexia involved and many other things (underage models sleep with photographers all the time in this world). My point is: people act as if this was completely new, as if the actors and actresses involved had NO idea stuff like that could happen which is plain bullshit. If the people involved at least admitted this, it would make the whole thing a little less hypocritical.
