So I swap GTX970 for 1070 only to realize I still can not maintain 60fps in some games because of CPU bottleneck... Evil or Very Mad

well I start to think It my be the lack of memory as well...

I went from something lower I think 8 series maybe even 6 to 1070 (vanilla, when it released). My CPU is even older, 2500k running at 4.6G. I do have 16GB RAM though.

What games do you have trouble with, I only found few games that cant get 60fps to be fair. Otherwise Id have already upgraded to new mobo and CPU I think.

DXMD stutters 55-62fps, but GPU is nowhere near to max power/usage. - installed on HDD Hitman 2 - around 50FPS in location where there are a lot of NPCs around. - HDD
Arkham Knight - stutters when driving fast through city - SSD

dxmd might be both, because my core i5 is taxed a lot, arkham knight might be due to low RAM. Hitman 2 probably due to CPU.

does your fps and gpu usage go up when u overclock or go dramaticly lower when u disable overclock?

sounds more like a gfx settings problem or badly optimized game

also u dont mention which resolution, full hd ?

I really believe this stuttering is caused by 8GB RAM. Because the DXMD alone is eating 5-6GB, Tomb Raider 2 - 7000MB tops of VRAM... So I will replace mine 2x4 sticks with 2x8GB and will see...

If no improvement I will just return it back to shop Laughing

ram will only max make a difference of 5-10% and it would be lagspikes when ram is full and the data has to come from the harddrive, not constant fps when the assets have already all loaded

game ram usage is still in the console era, aka 4 gigs most of the time max

i am wondering if core i5 can use more than 1600mhz of ddr3, I remember something from the past which says no.... Is that correct?

I believe so, it's a banal advice really but in case you're uncertain you can always check the manual/Intel's site and see what the limits are (Mobo/i5). DDR4 are a no go, but that goes without saying Razz

Edit: Apparently according to some Google results it is possible to use 1866 and 2133 as well as long as the XMP profiles are active from the bios, take it with a pinch of salt though.

also xmp profiles dont work many times, so check the settings always in bios and with cpuz but as mentioned before ram will not do magic increases in fps, unless the harddrive is being used and u running low, then the stuttering might dissapear with more ram.

Nope everything is fine, no throttling...nothing... just core i5 is not enough for stable 60fps in some games for max settings. Mad or maybe it is just denuvo Laughing

Ofc it can. I'm running (still) 2500k 4.6Ghz and 2133Mhz DDR3. Ram OC (1600 to 2133) boosted overall performance a lot.

In polish, but look at the chart.

Nice numbers. Do you think I can overclock (2x8GB) Kingston 1866MHz HyperX Fury Black safely?

I'm using Kingston Hyperx 1866 but with red radiators can't remember the name.
I took some tries (with lowest possible timing and bios settings etc.) but it works great and super stable.

So after some testing I decided to return back memory and buy additional 500GB ssd instead Smile as DXMD even with 16gb stuttered a lot, but after I moved install to SSD I have smooth 60fps all the time (on tested areas atleast)
