just not easy finding the tasty stuff , 95% of the fast stuff is crap but sometimes u find real gems.

I make this killer risotto (not aldente) and it takes me at most 90 minutes with preparation and all. But then again I make enough so we have left-overs for 3 more days where it still tastes much better than most "fast-food".

Edit:
Hell, if you want to make "hip" food then that would be 'fancy fast-food', such as home-made burgers. And honestly, once you've made a prime home-made burger then you will never want to enter a burger king or macdonalds every again.
My favorite "hip" food now would be an eggslut, such a tasty brunch meal.

Could work, worst thing I've seen are these ready made hamburgers looking to be put out of their misery, bread, cheese, beef(?) and salad just stuck in a vacuum bag forever. Razz

EDIT: Well I guess that answers the question that there will always be worse, cheeseburger..soup.

Pancakes ARE easy to make. They're just BORING to make. You make that nice runny batter, they you have to fry the damn stuff as well which is a nuisance since you can't really leave the frying pan.

Negro, please... Buying pre-made croissants or a wedding cake in a store, sure, but pancakes?
Just turn the pack around and look at what they put in them.
I don't know about you, but in my home-made ones, there's no thiamin mononitrate, sodium stearoyl lactylate nor monocalcium phosphate.
...wtf is that shit?

..and that's the big global conspiracy. We're getting overcrowded on this little ball. With ever improving health care 'they' have to increase the global death toll to slow down the population explosion by putting cancerous stuff in the food that the masses eat.

its no conspiracy lol, its basic greed, make money over dead corpses, kapitalsim doesnt give a fuck , as long as shareholders make money

but looking at the back of those pancakes

they dont seem to have much crap in them, they also go bad really fast, so u have to eat them fast, so that usually means less shit in them.

i do wonder though, where the 10g of shitty fats come from ? Would u have those shitty fats in homemade ones? (gesattige fet) thats the bad processed fats right?

dunno, but the "vollei" is the usual crap you dont wanna eat. actually its a waste product of the industry and 17,7% sugar isnt great that either

the reason that its get bad fast is like with pre baked waffles for example

and they suck, dont taste good, neither does the ready to cook pancake dough. own dough is done in seconds and way cheaper

@PickupArtist well, they are good and bad fats. Unsaturated fat are better than saturated ones for sure, but the satured ones (like butter, for instance) can also contain elements of great dietary value.

It's, of course, a question of balance. But the more industrial you go, the more those types tend to become bland. Like mineral water and H20. The same base, but go and try to drink straight H20 Laughing
(actually don't. Seriously).

So yeah, there's butter and butter. So, a local farm fresh butter on a piece of "complete" (can't really translate, it's... "whole"? Like it's just grinded, unprocessed cereals) bread, VS cheap commercial butter on shit that looks like this:
 Spoiler:

Basically the same. Butter on bread. But the nutritional values of those two seemingly equal things have NOTHING in common. One is part of a wholesome breakfast, the other is just ingesting digestable crass, that holds ZERO added value, quite the opposite (it's just calories).

Think of what you eat like as you would buying a house: House will have a long term impact on your quality of life (good insulation? Good neighborhood? Price? etc...), while food is the same, just on a way smaller, everyday scale.
Yet it's still a solid, serious investment in your future Smile (plus you can't upgrade it nor move when you don't like it anymore Dude Weep )

I mean, I'm with you that it's simple... But fast? You gotta mix that shit, sift that shit, mix more shit, sift that shit too until its smooth and then painstakingly make one fucking pancake at a time over and over again unless you're a master ninja with enough room for two frying pans.

In that case it's far more simple and fast (unless you just want to make like one or two pancakes but that's hardly enough) to put some pre-made fries in an oven and then heat up some meat for a nice burger with a frying pan. Shouldn't take more than like 15-20 min at most if you preheat the oven and take out the fries and meat 10 or so minutes before.

Well, I think it all comes to this:
There a two kind of people on Earth: Those who enjoy preparing/making food, and those who see it as yet another chore.
I can come home from work and still spend 1 hour making a dish, just because I love cooking. It's calms me, it focuses me, and while doing it, I'm thinking/processing x's and y's. Other would rather do things differently/different other things.

That's the big divide, me thinks Razz

Saturated fats aren't necessarily bad for you, they can be actually quite good. Please read up on good and bad fats

Sure! Like I said, even if there's more good on one side, neither are bad. And like you said, you have to research, in find the sacro-saint balance

@Yondaime
I get you, and in Belgium (and France too, I think), we get a "celebration" called Chandeleur, celebrating some biblical nonesense, but like Christmas means presents, we just make crêpes Very Happy

What I mean with that, is that this seamingly tedious task becomes a happy one, because you do it with people! Making a nice crêpe with a funny topping, and seeing a kid go "waaah" is worth it's weight in gold (...I'll take the gold over the child, honestly Very Happy ).

Like all necessary "tasks"/"chores"/"pleasures" in life, you can do them in a way that seem like a treat, or see it like an obligation. To each it's own, but I'm convinced that everybody should strive to make seemingly boring everyday tasks look fun, appealing, interesting, in one way or another.
I vacuum my appartment listening to some dope songs, for example. I still don't like it, but then I sing, do some silly nonesense, and before I know it, it's over.

 Spoiler:

Yeah I'm the same on that I try to make every chore into something to relax in, have some music on...

At work it is harder to do so since most shit jobs try to control you like a machine. Funnily enough it has the averse effect and places like that are way less efficient to the ones that gave more personal freedom.

Anywho, at Yondaime: I don't see an hour as slow or long so that makes a difference already. Pancakes are indeed a bit more tedious than other dishes you spent as much time on.
