Quote:
Stan Against Evil follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement. Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town. Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.

That was my first impression just by the name and then seeing the premise....yeah, it really feels like a knock-off.

Demons remind me of Buffy.

But Buffy had that weirdness, that cult feeling about it and some good characters. This?

Ok. Finally got to watch it.

I thought about it for a while, it's weird angels and shots, almost zero budget and it's like a comic adaptation. Not a good comics but that the closest I could think about.

It lacks something, isn't pushed enough in direction of being weird or maybe if Stan was more of a zero fucks given like Hellboy (like he was irritated by monsters breaking his couchpotating and not breaking into nonsens dialogue) or more 4th wall breaking. Now it's all over the place.
