Every so often there's a very special game that really catches my eye, and Tower57 by Benitosub and artist Cyangmou looks to be high up on that scale. It is the arcade love child of Alien Breed and Chaos Engine with fantastic 16-bit styled pixel art and interactive and destructive environments.

Sadly this is one of those "hey guys, here's some artwork!" things.. so I guess we'll see the game sometime in the next 3 years, haha. Downside to indie development, I guess Smile

True, I believe it was only announced like yesterday.... So yeh probably a two year development time, still though the Pixel Art is brilliant. I really like it when Devs and Artists actually put the effort in not just oh hey Pixels

I never seen that term used before "Whet your appetite", every person I've seen use it in the UK says "Wet"

Very Happy

Quote:
I always hear it in relation to something like "here are some screenshots for (upcoming game) to wet your appetite."

I always thought of it more as if you've had a little bit of something and your mouth starts watering and you're like "Damn, I am hungry now!"

Like appetizers.

Granted, I'm not arguing against whet being correct, I'm just saying the way it's often used is able to be taken in another way which would justify the other spelling Smile

Absolutely! Unapologetically Very Happy

@A-A

Yeah, it's such a common mistake that it's actually accepted as a definition most places these days. I guess it's time to change the original to the new? Very Happy

Cool

Might as well, there's another word(s) I hate

"Of cause" being "Of course"

Something about gorgeous pixel-art just really impresses me a lot more than polygons or shaders.. sure they're more technically accomplished and "realistic", but I'm a child of the 8 and 16bit generation, so seeing delicious pixel-art makes me happy Very Happy This looks like Alien Breed crossed with Chaos Engine and it looks amazing.

Agreed and also a pixel art game needs to scream "FUN" which most don't, they just shout hey pixels Laughing

Haha, yes, true. Sometimes you get some artsy-fartsy indie titles that are pixel-art and "retro!" look just for the sake of it, without actually any fun to play. Thankfully this one looks different but we'll have to wait to truly know.

One of those games I would love to see made, but at the same time: exactly the game I wouldn't fund.
