I've noticed something mildly infuriating in my apartment, in which I live together with my fiancee for 4 months now... Some of the switches (either single or double light switches) require clicking down, to turn on the light and others require switching up to turn in on.
Now, I've already made a choice and rearranged 50% of the light switches to fit the other 50% so it's all ok now.
I just want to know what is general consensus on this.
btw - I was lazy on just switched the double button to single button on two switches, because only one light was installed and utilized. Essentially, it doesn't matter if I am turning on circuit with nothing connected at the end ?

You are such an entitled whiney baby, geez. We occasionally have two switches for one light, meaning that each 'switching' simply inverts the current state and there is no meaning of up/down unless correlated with the other switch. Then, when we have two switches in one place, where only most, but not all of time, the upper switches are for the, arguably, primary light. Now I hope these terrfying predicaments help you to get some perspective in life!

If you turn it 90 degrees you can go from left to right and vice versa. Opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

Never crossed my mind. I just toggle the switch, dude. In a couple of rooms in my house there are two switches for the same light anyway (in the bedrooms) so it's not like they can be always the same direction for on/off.
