They sure are, which makes them entertaining to me.
Especially with all the diversity bullshit, politics,...
Having it in the background on ABC and the commercials alone are out of this world... Medicine adverts all with disclaimers and full list of side effects. Glad that we don't have that shit.
Best Picture Arrival??? Scifi picture selected as Best Picture, ain't happening unless it's on the level of LotR3 production (which was fantasy, but imagine the equivalent in scifi, that's what it will take).
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Well it already starts with me not liking Musicals so half of it is definitely wrong.
But yeah, I agree with you. Even if the line-up would be weaker I could not see it winning Best picture ever.
Enjoyed most of the ones of the best picture list.
im kinda surprised moana didnt win because they were black characters and it was a very politically correct mainstream disney pic. i mean thats all the oscars is these days.. a political grandstanding tool and a way for people to pat themselves on the back for doing a popular thing.
kinda surprised kubo even got a nomination... its everything the oscars isnt about... so i guess ill take that as a little victory of sorts
Lol. What a mess. But at least a more deserving movie won.

I haven't watched La La Land yet but Moonlight ended up being disappointing to me. Only thing that really impressed me from it was Naomie Harris's performance.
Your movie (supposedly) wins, you go up, thanking everyone with usual accolades and congrads, then 2-3 mins later a member of the academy politely says "Hmmm yeah sorry off the stage, the "other" movie won... bye!"...

I haven't seen moonlight but at least it had better topic than hollywood wanking.

Anyway, I don't think it was Beatty's and Dunaway's fault but the organizers'. Looks like they got handed the wrong envelope, the best actress one which had already been awarded.
Funny thing, the last person seen in posession of that envelope was Leo DiCaprio
and no leo wasnt the one who had it before, emma stone had her envelope. they print 2 for each category, depending from where the guy who reads it comes (left or right) are to people with same envelopes. they handed Beatty the envelope frmo the categorie before, which was still in the site he came from cause the one before came from the other side. either stupid upfuck or planned, i would go for the last one. no oscar without a goof, they need press.
