Hey guys, so i have this insanely irritating problem that i just can`t understand the reason for.

During a days use of my desktop the audio goes slightly out of sync on my entire system, all video and games get`s like a half second delay. Then i restart my rig and we`re all good for a while but it comes back again.

I have no idea what`s up, i can`t seem to understand if something is triggering it or if it just "slides" out of sync slowly or something.

First, i thought it was just my second drive, normal spinning 7200RPM drive i use to store games and movies. But it`s been happening on YT videos as well, wich has nothing to do with that drive.

This has been going on for a while, and changes that have been made (for different reasons) are new PSU and GPU and clean W10 innstall and i also ordered a new drive since it`s been making more sound than it used to.

I`ll have a new drive tomorrow, but then again. It`s not exclusive to things from that drive so the problem remains..

Does someone have ANY IDEA wtf this is?? Crying or Very sad

I don't understand why audio problems would be related to the HDD. Update or downgrade your audio drivers.

Try some stuff form here I guess

Great, my main is an SSD but the other one has been "!clicking" lately so it has to go anyway.

But what the hell is it then Neutral

I dont have audio drivers, i use a 1060 and both video and audio goes through that.

Took the tip "set power settings to high performance" and we`ll see. It seems like a W10 issue, it did start when i upgraded indeed.

Tried changing power settings, ran the command darth_vader mentioned in that thread.

No avail, i have disabled the on board soundcard and everything is updated. Still, after a few hours use, everything from games to video is out of sync by like 500ms.

Really need someone to make me understand what`s causing this! I have ZERO issues with my rig except the one drive clicking that i`ll change out tomorrow. But it can`t be that anyway.

It never hangs, crashes, performs just as it should except for this sync issue.

I see on the official site there are some Realtek drivers from 2016-09-26, do you have these installed?

As i said, on board audio is disabled. The only relevant audio driver is Nvidias. As in "Nvidia high definition audio" drivers. The disabled realtek can't possibly be the reason when its disabled and not used.

Also as i wrote earlier, this started when i went from w7 to w10. I did a clean innstall a few days ago but the problem is still there.

It's almost like if you leave it alone for a couple of hours its out of sync when i start using it again

So, i figured it out. Had nothing to do with my pc but was an effect of running the audio through the TV. So i'll connect my ps4 directly to my soundbar but i now need to connect audio only to the SB via hdmi. I have a 1060 with two hdmi ports, can i run video through one and audio on the other? If so, how and where do i find those settings?

You should be able to select the default audio playback device in Windows, but at the moment it is not possible to run HDMI with audio only from PC. That means that you will have a "ghost" desktop on your PC if you try to use HDMI audio without a display showing that output.

That said, as far as I understand soundbars with HDMI ports act as AV receivers. That is: you connect HDMI audio and video to it, and pass it through to the TV. If you connect it that way, your TV will act as a second monitor and you will have the option to use audio from your PC, the soundbar or your TV.
