I surprisingly already bought gifts for everyone last weekend just to avoid last minute fuckery in this horrible time of the year. I never buy gifts for everyone but it kinda happened this year.
Gf, my and her parents, grandparents, sister, her husband, their kid, gf brother. Just not me My gf wants me to choose something but I did not yet.
I am not religious by any means... Just like this time of the year because of food, gifts and spending some lazy days with family. It's kinda stupid this year tho, as snow is yet to be seen.

Just my other half and I ordered her presents a week ago.
This year it's only the two of us, her dad and his family is celebrating it elsewhere, her mom and her sister have to work that evening and we're not going to Belgium this year so... it's going to be a small thing this year
Here in the peninsula we're all adopting the nogifting as well xD. No annoyances, no expectations, no disappointments (all influenced by the no money), but on the bright side we eat and drink a lot together which is better than any other gift
My wife and I decided to buy snow tires as our christmas present to each other ... 15C today :/

I only drank once in my life. It was about 2 years ago, when my friend's 2nd kid got born. I drank 1 liter of vodka by myself in about 5-6 hours and went to home. By the midnight, only me and father of the child stayed up. 3 other guys were sleeping in other room and one on the floor. Newborn''s father drank about 1,2 l of vodka. I counted everything.
I wanted to do this ONCE in my life as I never drank any alcochol before (my own rule) just to not be hypocrite and know what it feels like and what is up with all of this bullshit.
So:
-It tastes like shit but that's subjective
-You feel more dizzy as the time goes and whats the point to that
-Loss of coordination
-You think You do something while in reality You fall glass over or puke
-All the time You more/less think that You have more control than You do which is super dangerous
-All of Your body feels numb
I still walked back to home myself. Didn't feel bad in the morning like people say. Just tired and worn off
All in all I think this alcochol shit is stupid and pointless. Only last thing I still want to try is whisky with cola in my own flat next year when its ready. Just in the evening, a glass with ice, while on pc or in chair. That sounds nice actually and not harmfull. Still depends how it will taste.
But vodka and other straight alcochols ? Stupid and just not tasting well at all. Still better than beer. I hate that thing. It even smells horribly. I never needed alcochol to have "fun".
Now, narcotics? The closest thing I had taken to narcotics was very strong "morphine" pills. About 2 times. AND THEY WERE GREAT !!!
I was not tired anymore but fully awake. Had quicker perception and reactions. Just felt snappy.
Once I took that pain pill when Skyrim got released becasue I was tired and wanted to play (father told me they will wake me up. He had some left from years ago when he had a "carpentry" accident and had his fingers reattached) and the damn thing worked great! I felt like if my reaction was so quick, that I could see quicker than I would move my eyes. Kinda cool.
Other time I just took it for a night shift in my previous job. Just to test if it will help with being tired and sleepy outside of playing video games and it did. Night 12h shift went by super quickly.
but I know it can be addictive if used more so I never tried it before.

No built-up alcohol threshold, but you can handle a liter of vodka? That is the equivalent of somewhere between 25 and 35 shots (depending on the shot size ). You're basically claiming you have a natural tolerance 5 times higher than that of experienced (fairly heavy) drinkers. Riiiiight...
"Morphine pills" being an upper? Complete and utter bullshit. Either what you took was not an opiate (codeine is also an opiate; practically all painkillers are) or you're full of shit. All opiates are downers, just like alcohol is. And no, it can not have a different effect on you, you can't cheat the laws of nature. If that's the effect those pills had on you, they probably were amphetamines or heavy caffeine pills.

you're comparing apples with oranges here. opioids, especially the good clean medical kind are nothing short of awesome, always had fun times on them, be it morphine pain pumps i emptied at the hospital or just cough syrup the effect you described is exactly the opposite though, but maybe you were so zoned out from the painkillers that in your lively imagination your reaction times were lightning quick, while to other people you appeared like a drunk vegetable.
on the other hand, downing a liter of vodka is regarded simply as an idiotic thing to do by anyone over the age of ~15, and apart from being life threatening rather disgusting from the taste aspect. be happy you actually got off easily, this could have ended much, much worse. alcohol itself is indeed pretty stupid and pointless, aside from being the world's most dangerous drug, but one shouldn't generalize without having tried the good stuff. wine and whisky (sans coke and ice, mind you), that's where it's at.

the tablets stuff is bullshit, but while the alcohol part unlikely, it's possible. knew a girl once who had a tiny frame and still drunk me under the table while i was at the top of my drinking game. but she could also eat half a pig and still be hungry. some people have weird metabolisms.

As far as I remember counting it was 23-25 shots with those bigger shot glasses. Not those tallest offcourse. That way or another, I've seen the bottles to confirm that

He also had other pain tablets but those would make him and me sleepy and kinda sluggish. More him than me. I barely felt any effect with those.

I'm pretty skinny and not particularly tall either (by Dutch standards anyway ) and I can handle a lot more than a lot of my mates who are way bigger. But a liter of vodka in 6 hours is still not possible without any side effects unless you're also sweating it all out or something. Like I said, a liter is equivalent to at least 25 "drinks" (differs per country but in general, a shot of vodka is counted roughly the same everywhere). That is insanely high and would put most people practically in a coma :/

I would guess that it was in fact diluted. Yeah, good vodka doesn't give you a hangover if you have a few shots of it during an all-nighter, but a liter in 6 hours? It's the timeframe that I don't buy most of all. A liter in itself isn't that bad, but in 6 hours it is. It MUST have been diluted, there's no way that was proper 40% vodka

Yeah that sounds about right. A "shot" is usually 25-35 ml (25 here in NL, 35 in UK), a double is 50-70. Yours would've been doubles, so about 20 shots. Or maybe your single shots are like the UK's, which would come out to 28 shots or so

There's no way those were painkillers mate. At least I don't know of any painkiller that's an upper. Basically, the difference between an upper and a downer is exactly what you describe between alcohol and those pills. But any prescription upper is shit like Dexedrine or Adderall or some form of amphetamines. They make you go like hell, but they're not particularly effective at painkilling
If they're "made with morphine" they're 100% sure downers. And listening to why he got them (holy crap at that btw), I'd say that they almost definitely are. In which case you probably experienced the fun part of downers, which is that you thought you were quicker, like bushwacka says
