Did anyone of you experienced that: with an RMA the shipping cost of the defective unit is yours to pay?

I'm asking since in the decade and a half of me doing RMA's it has never happened to me. I always got a pre-paid label to ship the unit back.

My PSU had a rattling fan, so I thought to myself: eh no problem, let's just do an express replacement at Corsair (first time I done an RMA with them tho). On their page where they outline the procedure they make no mention of having to pay for shipping costs so I just go ahead and create the ticket.

PSU arrives a few days later, no return label in the box. So I figure: it's most likely on their website and I need to print it. Ofcourse there I notice it's not a pre-paid one it's one where you have to put stamps on.

I contact customer support and they say I have to deal with the shipping costs... Mad Bit shitty when the cost of shipping is more than half of what the thing cost in the first place.
Tried again by bitching, we'll see.

Can't, there is a defined period in when it has to arrive back. otherwise they keep the 100€ credit card charge.

If there wasn't I'd use the Nforce cup service, they are even slower than camel post. Razz

Yep. I always had to pay for shipping items back when I dealt directly with manufacturer.

I RMAd Kingston ram sticks a few months ago. They had a label that was meant to convey that they'd be paying the shipping charges but the local post office workers seemed convinced it was for UK only (I was sending the goods to UK). The Kingston representative I was dealing with sent me a 4gb usb flash drive as compensation for the postage. Guess you could call it a positive experience though you can get 8gb sticks for that sort of money.

Seems now, because it is so costly they will do an exception this one time if I show them the receipt. Their forum is filled with those on time exceptions tho.

Well... got what I wanted. So I'm happy. Very Happy
