Paradox Interactive revealed that Magicka 2 would be heading to the PlayStation 4 and PC at Sony’s E3 media briefing. It did this by revealing a new live-action trailer showing an out of work wizard who kills a cat with its magic. No, we’re not joking. Check it out above.
Magicka 2 will feature the classic spell-casting system and will feature the same “humour” as the previous game. There will be four player co-op this time around along with a campaign mode that promises plenty of new surprises. There will also be some new co-op features so it remains to be seen how much magic you’ll need to re-learn.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of Magicka 2, which will arrive on PC and PS4® onMay 26, 2015, we've published a completely fair-use trailer containing all-new gameplay and allegedly new ideas!
The game can be pre-ordered on PC beginning today, with PS4 pre-orders starting soon, according to the alarm Paradox has set on its Night Watch. Magicka 2 will be available for $14.99 on both platforms.

Added a way to change your keybindings
This can be changed in your user settings file
That can be found in your %AppData%\ParadoxInteractive\Magicka2
You can get there by pressing Windows button + R and type in %AppData%\ParadoxInteractive\Magicka2
Changing key bindings
Any text editor will work, but we recommend something like Notepad++.
To change bindings simply:
Find the key you want to change for example
arcane = {
key = "s"
state = "pressed"
}
here you can simply change it to p
arcane = {
key = "p"
state = "pressed"
}
Save the changes
.
Start the game and the key should now be bound to the new key.
The settings file changes is our first solution until we have created a ingame interface for it.
Good to know.
- There is nothing that prevents binding the same key to multiple inputs.
- Can't bind to CTRL and AltGr.
- No sanity checks (you can bind non-existing keys).
- The padps4 section is not used at all.
- Activate Toggle Magick is not used at all.
- Activate is not used at all.
- Changes in the keybinding won't reflect in the tutorial or ingame HUD.
- Keybindings do not affect the menu, for example you can't rebind pause it will still use the esc key for pausing the game.
- You can always revert to the default setting by removing the keybindings block from the configuration or deleting your whole settings file.
Unable to communicate with Paradox server
Fixed some issues that stopped some user from connecting to the paradox servers.
Wrong number of orchestra soundtracks
There was a mistake made in the document, there was only 21 tracks recorded for the orchestral versions. We have updated the pdf to reflect this.
Offline play should now work as intended.
Some people had crashes/freezes when pressing space bar. We have made changes to how bad connection and offline mode on steam is being handled
.
A correction in Cloud save filename.
Some users who have switched between being online and offline without issues have noted that they seem to lose progression.
If you lose progression or get a cloud save conflict after the patch has been installed.
Please choose to use the option to use the cloud save instead of the local save. If you miss this information and read this at a later stage, you might be able to recover your progression by renaming the local savefile (and after that choose the local save ingame).
The file in question is located in %APPDATA%\ParadoxInteractive\Magicka2\. Begin with exiting the game and making a backup of all the “.sav” files in the folder. You can get there by pressing Windows button + R and type in %APPDATA%\ParadoxInteractive\Magicka2
Find a file named something like a long string of numbers AND characters with the extension “.sav” (i.e. “0d5e58cb-4478-4610-9d61-260d05b3d7f8.sav” in the same folder another file might exist that have a short number instead, like “10000138457.sav”. Copy the name of the short file to the long file, i.e. “0d5e58cb-4478-4610-9d61-260d05b3d7f8.sav” -> “10000138457.sav” and your progress should be back.
EDIT: Well the patch was released but then they found a issue and now they have reverted it.
It's become such a trademark for us. The Early Access buttsecs is always hiding around the corner . If one game doesn't even require three patches in the first week I instantly get concerned and very, very suspicious..
