You got stolen cdkeys probably, maybe from opened game boxes at some shady russian store. Then whoever bought them made a claim with Steam because he couldn't activate his cdkeym showed them receipt/proof of purchase and your account got flagged.

Sorry, dude, but you knowingly bought cd keys from unauthorized sellers and circumvented the region locking. Now you got unlucky and got cought.

Maybe the VPN was used by other people aswell to scam people. They look at who used that ip and voila, le ban.

There's no such thing as Steam support - Steam has the worst support in history. Even the worst second place had crappy live people to talk to - Steam uses an automated system it seems that throws useless basic messages at you based on key words I read somewhere. Only after several replies, they bother putting a live person on it Rolling Eyes . The delay is also placed on purpose to discourage people from using support. THAT'S what kind of cunts Valve are.

I honestly hope the EU slaps Steam slash Valve with a monster fine in the near future for completely ignoring consumer rights. I hope it's at least $100.000.000 too.

they dont lock an account if u got a gift/cdkey which was bought with stolen cc or sth else. they just deactivate the game.

this is strange, keep asking the support for clearification

kinda makes me think if someone bad happens, being 'honest' probably isnt the best policy...

id probably go in all guns blazing 'HELP MY ACCOUNT WAS HIJACKED, I CANT LOG IN, HERE IS A CD KEY TO PROVE THE ACCOUNT IS MINE, PLEASE HELP'

at least id figure id have a better chance than trying to appeal to their kindness or expect them to use reason and rationalise things...

That is exactly how to deal with support on sites like steam,ebay,paypal, asking for refunds from sellers etc. You have to act stupid and with just a little panic. They help you to get rid of you mostly Laughing

Being overly polite or logical doesn't really pay off in these cases, they know you will drop the whole thing easily.

Wrong, have a steam friend who had a games in his inventory which were bought with a stolen CC. He did get his account locked in that case but was able to get it unlocked via a support ticket.

Another friend couldn't get his account unlocked after a game bought with a stolen CC was removed from his library.
