You motherfuckers!
Why do I even care, why bother with Huawei at all when there are other options?
Their phones are actually reasonably priced, which is the reason for their growing market share. Their newer phones are good quality phones. The problem is support, updates and communication. It is frustrating to see their "we don't give a fuck, yo" approach to smarthphones often conveyed through absolute silence. The more I've read up on Huawei this past year the more I understand that this is probably not going to change any time soon. They're too big. They sell too many new phones. Buying more expensive high end phones from other companies is worth it if you're someone who hangs on to a phone for several years simply because you can rely on at least a couple of solid firmware upgrades.
Releasing new phones left and right with no intention of supporting their customers is the absolute worst. Huawei has maintained a terrible reputation in this regard and I see no attempts to improve.
The radio silence. It is really hard to get news and information out of Huawei. What is the point of leaving customers in the dark when other successful companies manage to communicate way better through social media sites, news sites and press announcements.
They want to sell phones. Duh. No new firmware shortens the lifecycle of a device. Duh. Huawei tries to compete in the premium smartphone range, and their newest entries do so quite succesfully: But history repeats itself now with other companies announcing their plans for Android 5.0 and more, Huawei drops down into cover, and when thoroughly pushed by customers they release a blog entry on "Note 2" receiving a firmware update, and that's it. That is it. Now, you could say: Surely, it is a given that all 'newer' Huawei phones will get the 5.0 pushed to them 'eventually'. Really. Is that so. That isn't a sure thing at all, and "eventually" could mean at a point where you've bought a new phone because you don't want to fucking flail around in the dark, striving through compatibility issues with newer apps and not have access to new features and possibilities as they are introduced to competing companies' devices.
There isn't a site online that doesn't bring this issue up, so why can't they just do what other companies do; Samsung, Sony etc:
Support your god damn smartphones. Firmware and EMUI updates.

I currently own a G6 from them. Awesome little phone, waaaay too fast and reliable for its price, although due to the small internal memory, it lags when stuff is installed on it instead of an SD card. I'd really want an updated firmware for it, can I please have Lollipop, Huawei?
