You can't fart without being banned! Just joined, got involved in a few conversations, mentioned a few interesting articles and shaddow banned! Tried using hulu, got a different ip, joined the site with a different email, banned.
Ok different IP, different email, on it for a day, mention an interesting gaming retro article, shadowbanned.
No wonder I never joined reddit before

Well it has some useful info on games sometimes but I really did never see a reason to make an account there

Yes, it's a shit place filled with the lowest mongrels you can find on the internet, it can rival with things like tumbler/twitter/facebook whatever...
The sad part is that they usually think they are better than other places, yet have the same kind of cattle mentality/hive mind going on.
I usually see: but it has interesting stuff... well ofcourse, even a shit you produce every morning has interesting stuff.
Tho to be fair... every place on the web that caters to a large group will always turn out like that. We just have more idiots in the world than we have interesting people. 
So most of the time, if they produce great stuff... I'll stick to that content, not read any comment and sure as hell don't even think of making an account.

Reddit is a weird beast. There are some places where you can gather pretty useful informations (the Soccer one that Nalo mentioned is neat for example -even if it's called soccer-, as well as the naked ladies section, or some Music-related sub-reddits), but generally it's not a 'community', it's mostly a giant circle-jerk, so to speak like Morphi pointed out.
They have a gaming section as well, though as you can imagine is populated mostly by casual gamers and criticism is never well-accepted as far as I could see, so that's a no go. *holds the beloved freedom of speech banner*
I made an account there only to upvote our Hump channel's Battlefield 3 videos a couple of years ago, and never logged-in since then, never liked the atmosphere there, but to each their own.
edit: thanks Nalo, will check those out, albeit my expectations are low xD

I think I've went to reddit 4-5 times total? and usually it was some link that took me there. Never saw a use for going there, the layout sucks, the organization is way to tediously sorted into sub-sub-sub-sub groups too specific. And most the posts I did read felt like 4chan people pretending to be wearing a suit to be 'le reddit classy' |
Pretty much this.
I think I created an account for some unknown reason, I think it had something to do with battlefield. Other then that I never use it and wouldn't really want to either. |

tbh, i prefer reddit layout vs normal forums, because you can actually sort topics based on votes. (self moderated community).
and votes are linked to forum you actually read. for example if you post a great topic about food in a beer subreddit, you get downvoted to hell, because even if you post was great, it dint belong there. and mods mark those topics to never show on the main page.
there are a lot of circlejet subreddits, but those are obvious and easy to ignore. most decent/normal subreddits have a good ruleset, and good mods to enforce them.
if you can live a week on reddit you will pretty much love it. for gaming you can find people to play with, honest reviews. many developers have accounts there and do ama (ask me anything) regularly.
on specific games subreddit people are usually polite, and dont post in every topic how shit that game is, thats why you get the impresion that crticism is not allowed. simply, you criticize/unsubscribe/move on. shitposting criticizes (a plain "game sucks" like people seems to post on forums) are not allowed but you can criticize as much as you want as long you have an explanation.
