The drama, which is produced by ITV-owned Line of Duty producer World Productions, is set in and around the corridors of power. Bodyguard tells the story of a heroic but volatile war veteran assigned to protect the Home Secretary whose politics run contrary to his own.
Richard Madden plays David Budd, who is working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. When he is assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary, Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), whose politics stand for everything he despises, Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. Responsible for her safety, is he actually her biggest threat?
Well, damn..That was a pretty mediocre and disappointing season finale of a really good TV show.
It was so contrived and full of holes I was just wtf wtf..why did they do that?! They didn't even have to do the shit they did..the story was unfolding nicely and then BAM! they jus fucked it up.
It was great right untl they ruined it.
8/10 for 5/6 episodes

It was a decent show worth a watch atleast. This will be the 'Sherlock' moment for Madden and we're going to see him pop up in films and I am guessing he'll become a Marvel Superhero/villain as well

I just watched the first 15 minutes of the first episode of Line of Duty.
Is this a dark comedy?
First of all the actor that appears to be the protagonist is untalented and unconvincing IMO. Very meek. About the story:

There is a big police anti-terrorist operation going on, a SWAT team goes in and bashes through the wrong door in a motel because the digit 9 on the door fell and became a 6(!!!), so they bashed in the wrong apartment and wasted a random muslim holding a baby while his wife screams. Then the police chief tells the team what story to stick to, like they are your run-of-the-mill hood gangbangers. And of course, cue the muslim widow "We came to England because we thought things would be different" preaching.
That's when I deleted the thing. Of course, if you think this is a good starting point for a story, go ahead.
