I'm looking for a decent but durable laptop for 800-900€ tops.
This
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-Inspiron-17R-5737-Notebook.110190.0.html
seemed to fit the bill at first but I want something smaller (14-"15") and preferably with a better CPU.

How can you run Divinity at 1080p max on a 650M when a 860M can't? Unless 30FPS is your thing

Edit: Yep, pretty much

youtube.com/watch?v=nyPWywnRf4U

Shitty frame rates even with two of those rebadged 650Ms in SLI

never said Wash Doges ran on max, Divinity does and I don't notice any lags

EDIT: yeah well obviously there are upgrades to Y500 available in the $1k price segment which will make all that shit totally playable

The point was even with two 750Ms the frame rate is still shit, so what's it like with an even older version of the same card.

Nigga must've run it w/o intel turbo boost (c) for example. Who knows. I play at @ med 1080p and don't suffer any lags, really optimized rig interms of processor and memory load.

The P34G v1 should be cheap now that the v2 is out, it's more than powerful enough.

900€ is around $1300 (says google) so it should be about right

14", 760M, 1080p, decent CPU and so on
Well, this country is so crap that it's not available here.
And I'm pretty limited on which store it can be bought too.

And I'm guessing that only "regular" brands like asus, acer, toshiba, samsung, hp etc will be available Sad

Also, the first one definitely has more models available in the store besides those from the site.

I'll probably try to get a "last-gen" upper class model, right now that seems like the best bet because while they might be 1-2 years old (as in factory old) they will probably be at the price of the newer but less powerful medium-high units.

Dear beloved friend, I must solicit your strictest confidence in this transaction. This is by virtue of its nature utterly confidential and 'top secret'. You have been recommended by an associate who has assured me in confidence of your ability and reliability to prosecute a transaction of great magnitude involving a pending business transaction requiring maximum confidence.
I am here seeking for an avenue to accept the payment for the Toshiba Satellite that you have just ordered. The paypal address is the following: prince.ixiassisofzimbabwe @gov.my

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1944286/buying-gaming-laptop-budget-800-900.html

That came up in a search, seems ~900 to 1000 is a popular price range for laptops.Smile
( https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=900%24+budget+laptop )

But it's risen a bit in price to 899 so finding one of those below 900 in a store could be a bit problematic now.
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y510p/

(This? http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Y510p-Laptop-Computer-Generation/dp/B00KR4MOYO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405319401&sr=8-3&keywords=lenovo+y510p )

(8GB 1600Mhz RAM so that should be fine, i7 4700MQ processor at 2.40Ghz which is acceptable for a laptop and a Nvidia 755M 2GB GPU which again is pretty good for a laptop.)

(For the most demanding games 2GB VRAM is cutting it a bit close however and the CPU could be a bit stronger but from what I've checked that pushes the price to over 1000$)

EDIT: Or that.

That Lenovo is very nice performing laptop for the price, but build quality is pretty crappy (touchpad especially). Toni kurwa i suggest buying custom laptop from XMG schenker or similar service, they use Clevo barebones which are very good quality.

For example:

The very first generation of those (probably about 4 years ago now) of those were shit, but after that HP did a 180 and they're actually really, really good now.

What's your actual goal for it? Gaming, work or both?

It's for a relative, not for me (the next laptop I'll buy if I ever buy one again will probably be the cheapest 400-500€ I can get my hands on Laughing).

Mostly work, movies, music, definitely some PCSX2 and maybe MAYBE a few PC games.
But nothing that has to run at 60 fps with max details etc etc.
Here's the Envy I was referring to earlier:
http://www.staples.pt/Produtos/Port%C3%A1til_HP_Envy_15-J102SP?t=709

Once again it's not for me, if it was I sure as hell a) wouldn't be spending this much money on a laptop (Laughing) and b) would most definitely import it and get the gigabyte inter suggested, or the lenovo suggested earlier, etc.
But since it's not for me I'm limited to the "usual" brands sold by one of the two stores in which it will be bought, which means asus, acer, toshiba, samsung, hp and sony.

HP it is then Smile

If you can find a good deal on one of ASUS' UX series, they're pretty darn nice too. Samsung is overpriced, Acer and Toshiba are mediocre at best. Sony can be good, but can also be very bad, they are incredibly inconsistent.

Well, I went to the store to hang out a bit with my old colleagues and I think i've found what I was looking for:
http://www.notebookcheck.info/Lenovo-IdeaPad-G500s-59381252.101067.0.html

Turns out that they do have some Lenovo's Surprised
Screen seems to be pretty crap and also 1366x768 but whateva, the owner won't be able to spot the difference Laughing

I'll try to find out which other models they also have but this one was ~749€ while the tier above was already priced at 1099€ so nooooooope.

The Envy edges that one out. Slightly better CPU, slightly better GPU, slightly better display.

Build quality is probably better though, it is Lenovo after all Razz

I'd stay away from HP. At least here in brazil they are really, really shitty. And I've seen some quality benchmark/statistics where they fared pretty low.
