So, i haven't had a proper shit in 4 or so days and had bad pains in my gut. Day before yesterday i had to go home from work because i suddenly felt pretty bad. Yesterday i had to argue with the respetionist at the doctors office to get an emergency appointment. Well, after a needle in my finger and 10 minutes later he gave me a paper and told me to get to the hospital at once, and offered taxi seeing as i don't drive. Well, appears i have some seriously inflamated polyps in my colon and a persistent fever which started at 39.4 degrees. Gonna stay here atleast this weekend, perhaps longer and 3 weeks sick leave from work. Still haven't shat one bit since i came here, so hope that won't become a issue later on. Atleast im in the right place!
This was one hell of a way to start the weekend!

Stomwolf, I don't know your age but removing colon polyps ( if found ) is absolutely necessary! There is a 50% chance they could later turn into something nasty.

Quite right. This put the danger into perspective. Ill have a proper conversation when i see the doc. We've had lots of cancer in my familiy as well, both mother and father's side, so it's best to take the wisest approach to this.

That sucks, luck surely isn't on your side lately :<
Let's hope everything is resolved soon (even though the whole thing is a pita, literally xD). My best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Quote: | Bowel cancer risk
Polyps are not usually cancerous. But if some types of polyps are not removed, they may eventually become cancerous. This takes many years to happen, however.
About 1 in 10 polyps will turn into cancer. These are called adenomas.
Most doctors think all bowel cancers develop from polyps. |
I think I would definitely want them removed.

Talked wtih the doc again now. Seems as if the nurses has misunderstood something because they said it was polyps, but it was really something called "Diverticulum". Probably not as bad, but he said it can take a while to heal.

At least that is less a problem, thought u are a bit young for that though right?
I think you said you had fever etc and also if u were put on antibiotics id guess u actually had diverticulitis instead. All find as long as the pus buildup is not bad or it can get serious.
If its confirmed that you have got a problem with bacteria and such you might need an operation for that.

i havent had problems with pus. A patient on the neighbour bed has the same thing, but a bit more developed and one got a hole in it or something, and got pus from it. I guess i caught this early. Im betting the problem is my diet, so i'm going to have to change that.
Sounds like "diverticulitis" tbh when i skim over on wikipedia. I had a raise in white blood (22 or something when the norm is about 8 ) as well as a constipation from helll.. Didn't ask the doc if the sacks were outside or inside though. But i think you're right.

had to go through a lot of tests this year for my intestines also. i can tell you the worst part of a colonoscopy is not the test itself but the hours and hours of drinking liters of this horrible fluid.
