http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverfish
sooo... for about two years now, I know about presence of those little bugs in my bathroom. Now don't start yet, "what?!, why don't You clean Your bathroom". I will explain in a second.
They look like on that pic and are very tiny, fast and kinda cute actually. Not as gross as on the wiki pics
Now, I usually hate all kinds of bugs with spiders most. I am so scared of spiders that I even look around walls before I go to sleep (on my bad days... I usually don't check for them) but I totally like silverfish bugs.
I've been watching their behavior for 2 years now and they are smart little creatures!
First, they come out only late at night. about 1am. They almost never go out more than half length of the bathroom. They live under the bathtube. There is a small service hole and I think they hide there during the day.
Now, during the day, i've never met them. They also don't come out every night and I've never seen more than 2 at a time.
They seem very intelligent and I think they are trying to scavange for droplets left on the bathroom floor, during their night explorations.
The funny thing is, when I enter the bathroom at 1am and turn the lights on, they immidietly stop in place. stone dead. The closer I get, they kinda panic and move a bit with my every step. One fella is brave and other is kinda cowardy. For example, yesterday (after long not seeing them) when I've entered the bathroom, One dude was exploring middle of the bathroom (right in front of toilet) and immidietly stopped! He must have been frightened. The other guy was near the wall, in the darker part, between the tiles. After a moment he decided "NOPE", it's time to run home and did a few steps, every couple of seconds, slowly in the direction of home(under the bathtub) while the fellow in the middle of the bathroom stayed stone cold where he was spotted. He knew that rapid movements would make him more visible targer on the middle of bright tile.
Ofc I am not a monster and let them be as always. I just hope my mother won't ever find em. As long as there are only these two "characters", I don't mind.
Am I crazy ?! (keep in mind that my flat is very very tidy. My mother is kinda crazy about that... well me too. My room shines(mostly))

Some weeks ago I saw one of these mofos sneaking through one of the little holes behind my case, and as soon as I opened it, *poof*, disappeared :/. I think he's built a home inside the power supply *shakes fist*

Funnily enough I have a couple of those in my bathroom too. It's weird to think their species has been around for 400 million years... some sneaky mofos.

Just capture them and get rid of them they thrive in humid and damp/wet areas
Its either humid and wet where you live or you have food sources that are scattered around floor you filthy bugger
try this.
Take a quart-sized jar or another glass container. Wrap the outside of the container with a piece of masking tape so its all dark for them inside and for them to crawl up. Place a piece of bread at the bottom of the glass. Set the glass in an area where you suspect silverfish reside. The silverfish will climb into the glass to eat the bread, but they'll be unable to get back out, since the glass is too slippery.
Use the traps at night, when silverfish come out to feed.

The only "beasts" I can tolerate are those long, thin legged spiders that just stay in their corner. Everything else has to die immediately.
Those silverfishes are disgusting and shouldnt be allowed to thrive in your appartement.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Do you know what makes cockroaches 'dirty bugs'? It's the simple fact that they crawl through stuff and move germs around. So I assume it's the same with silverfish. When I was a kid we had them in our house for probably a year or more, but my dad would spray the whole house with a can of pesticides once every summer and one summer they were gone.
I would suggest buying some permethrin and exterminating them. There are more than just two.

You're like that creepy cockroach dude from power puff girls, who turned out to be a robot controlled by another cockroach.

I always wondered what they are. My girlfriend refers to them as mini snakes. But we have had those here. I havent seen any for about a year but some time last year Ive seen them in the kitchen and in the bathroom and only at night. I hate them. I would kill them with fire if I could lol.
May the NFOrce be with you always.
