I need a recommendations for the new router that will be able to handle up to 100 Mbit/s connection (do I need a new card as well? I have integrated net card from asus P8P67 mobo + some older one on pci slot)
On the old one i`m using only port forwarding which i think is common now in every router. Also I have password stuff turned off but I`m using access limitation based on MAC addresses - basically no one with the mac address that isnt added to the router configuration wont be able to connect. Would be great if new one would have option to limit the connection for particular devices/users.
What to look for guys? Any other funcions that may come in handy? Are there some routers with build up memory that can serve as ftp/hosting service (for a really small website with low traffic, nothing serious) and maybe for downloading torrent files in the background without pc turned on?
It will be working in one floor apartment, pc, tv, console, laptop, 1-2 phones from time to time, nothing serious.

for regular "work" : any tplink in your price range with positive reviews. (some are crappy.). check newegg. i would go if the budget allow for a dual band one 2.4/5 ghz.
for state of the art work : gigabyte router dual band 2.4 /5 . like tplink wdr3600/archer c7, asus ac1200

Any with the ftp/hosting option? Basically its a device that is connected to the interwebz 24/7, I have small portfolio site with low traffic and low requirements so if it possible I could put it there (on internal or external memory) without paying for hosting services with tons of options I wll never use

get a raspberry pi for smallscale ftp/hosting and put raspbian.
no usual router will do that to.
better to post you budget.

Get a device that can run DD-WRT or Tomoto, you won't regret it.

@frogster I need a router, dont have time/knowledge to mess with raspberry. My budget is as big as the cost of device with decent functionality.
DD-WRT or Tomoto - what is that?

3rd party software that you flash on the router replacing the stock firmware.
I second the Asus AC68U. So far the router covers my decently sized apartment (2 bedroom, one big living room, one work room and a back and front patio) with huge success. The WI-FI speed never gets lower than 120mbps (on AC capable cards) in the furthest corners (which is on the backpatio and there's 4 walls between router and patio).
Only question I have is about reliability as I just started using it but so far it's been impressive.

Tplink 740n should be enough and cheap for 100mbit....

guise if I can plug in usb into router and make it work as a ftp server for sharing shit in the interwebz can I use it as the small hosting for my low traffic site? I dont need any fancy stuff, its just a portfolio site to show some graphics stuff from time to time
