Just got my DSL connection for the new apartment, but i'm getting horrible speeds with wireless. Only have wireless atm, but fixing so that i get wired soon.

I'm getting at max 9Mbit down and 0.7Mbit up and my router shows this:

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding (Trellis) ON ON
SNR Margin (dB) 12.1 21.1
Attenuation (dB) 29.0 13.0
Output Power (dBm) 19.8 13.1
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 18508 1520
Rate (Kbps) 14431 892

What should i realistically expect from this? 9Mbit sounds awfully low.

Edit: Why on earth did i repeatedly type DLS lol wut

Messed a bit with the wifi settings and got 12Mbit on speedtest, but the second i start downloading something and interrupts it, the speedtest goes down to 1-3Mbit on speedtest afterwards. This might just be my wireless adapter though.

That all looks correct with what you are getting with 12mb, the snr and attenuation are good the rate is typical for what you are actually getting.

Unless there is some bedding in period due to the line being completely new then it seems thats what the line is giving period. What is it advertised at is the info one needs to know.

But with max attainable being 18Mbit, 14 does also sound kind of low? Probably capped for stability. I will give the provider a call and not ask, but say that i want the stability cap removed or reduced and see what they say. They did the very same when they took over as my provider back where i lived before, and while it was more stable, i lost like 300kb/sec there with the tradeoff being restarting the router once or twice a month which i consider a non issue.

if its new line it can take some time for shaping I think to settled down, you will notice the line noise etc changing as well when that happens, it seems you have room for more mb's just by looking at the info you provided, for instance don't keep rebooting router as that can mess it all up.

Leave it a week or so and see what its settled at. Calling them of course they will be able to check and provide the info also or needed changes they might be able to instantly change their end.
