But like I said back then either SteamSpy is inaccurate for this game (it's not nearly as accurate as it was back in the day before Steam changed stuff), or the AMD codes have boosted sales a lot, because RE2 most definitely didn't sell over a million copies in 2 weeks on PC.

Unfortunately, despite all the great and complex work that has gone into it, someone on the team must REALLY like the sharpening filter..

It looks fantastic. There are quite a lot of games I would love AI upscaled like this and this is one of them. Sharpened or not - better

Probably similar to the mod for Final Fantasy IX which initially used various upscaling algorithms via AI and then fine tuned them by hand editing which included sharpening, done carelessly (So to say, I doubt they applied a single value all over every single asset.) it introduces annoying shimmer and texture aliasing though with the original games age short of going via a emulator I suppose post-process sharpen from say ReShade and using a customizable value wouldn't work...then again with the PC port and it's age emulator or nothing I would imagine. Need to do some reading.
FF IX doesn't look terrible and the upscaling does a admirable job for the PSX compressed to hell quality texture art but even in the static comparisons the sharpening "noise" stands out though I am also sensitive to it whereas others will prefer a higher value.
Default value for the sharpen effect I'm using from ReShade was 60% which I dragged down to 10% and even then it's still noticeable though as a post-process setting it can't really be completely dynamic or adaptive.
(It's part of the Github shader repository for ReShade and updated periodically, I'd say it's a good improvement over some of the earlier sharpen shaders. https://reshade.me/forum/shader-presentation/3954-new-luma-sharpen )

RE2 performed above expectations, RE7 continues to be selling years later.

Never experienced that, do you have it installed on a HDD?
Yes, my PC is also weak. i3 4170 with a gtx 750ti
Did they're optimise it any from the demo code? It was close to perfect, strangely.
Dunno about optimization since i always had locked 60 fps but using the leaked 1.2 denuvo less exe should improve things a little (and the dlc's work with it as well), stutter is definitely related to your hardware though especially a ssd helps a ton with stutters related to assets streaming.
Both campaigns are great even though there isn't much difference compared to the original.
In original RE2 the A and B sides were basically different games with their own puzzles and bosses.
In addition, healthy sales of high-margin catalog titles also boosted profit. Specifically, sales of Resident Evil 2 (for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and Devil May Cry 5 (for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC), both hits in the previous fiscal year, continued to grow due to an expanded user base.

Could be nothing. Or it could be they are finally making some DLC for it... Let's see...
