It is indeed good. Miles better than all the racing games we have got in recent times (not simulation games, never played), but good arcade fun.
They have fixed pretty much all issues (and of course they do mess up small things with updates, like gauges not working sometimes, etc).
Very nice amount of customization, stunning visuals (yes, updated now along with addition of dynamic weather), decent story missions, lot of skill challenges, tuning and upgrading your favorite cars is fun because you can't buy parts straight; rather you have to collect those by doing missions, skills and other things.
If you are a fan of long races, then Faction missions are great. There are some missions which takes hours to complete. 
Wild Run expansion add more content along with new ESK (Drift, Drag and Monster) and lot of rewarding replay value with Summit. Even the PvP is active.
I didn't like (along with many on my list) when it was launched. It was buggy mess and the UI was awful. But gave it another try after recent NFS and was pleasantly surprised.
The things which were missing/not required:
No custom music and pre-loaded ones are awful.
PvP outside Summit isn't active much.
Bikes are not good. Handling is awful.
Bad chat system for an online game.

what's the difference between crew and crew: wild run edition?
they have the same price, and there seems to be a wild run DLC separate from wild run edition 
from what I understand its both the base game+ expansion, but why would anyone buy the regular edition then?

Man, just started playing this and i have that weird stuttering bug, looks like the game is streaming but doesnt drop from 60 fps, but you can see the frameskipping, is there a fix??

I've bought base game for 10$. I must say it's quite fun with DFGT. I'm wondering if the Wild Run is worth 15$?

Maybe get it for $10. I got it for ~$5 during sale, and got 100+ hours out of it. 
Wild Run content:
3 new specs. Drift, Drag and Monster.
Bikes, but handling is not good.
New cars.
Free Drive stunts and challenges. These are fun when playing in group. Maybe solo too. Basically you have to finish the given stunts in time (jumps, drive, drifts, trash objects, donuts, etc). Free Drive challenge is basically custom race tracks. You can create your own track around the map and play solo or with friends.
Summit.
Summit is a playground. There are usually 5-7 qualifiers every month. Each qualifier has 11 challenges. You compete against others on leaderboard. Better you perform, better you are rewarded.
At end of the month, there is main event. You need at least 3 qualifier medals to get access. The reward is brand new car.
Once a year, there is grand event. Need 15 medals for access.
There are also some community events. This time it was Drift challenge. Top 100 got Mazda RX7.
It's lot of fun. Community is good and friendly (and of course there are some derps who will ram and bam when driving). The events don't get boring despite getting repeated every qualifier along with new events. PvP is also active. About ~4-5K people compete in Summit thing.

I "fixed" this with forcing the game on 30 fps

meh, not a game breaker for my personally, but I can see folks not liking that bit.

hmm? i can switch between my cars just fine. otherwise it would be near imposiible to level a specifc car for example.
edit: only time the game forces you to a specific car is in the summit events. sometimes they want you to use a japanese or european car. otherwise its your choice.

Thanks. Will get the Complete Edition in a sale. Seen it two times on gamersgate at 15 euro this year, but i wasn't sure if the game deserved even that much cash.
