Oh yes, definitely! I don’t see pirates as plain thieves as I also pirated heavily when I was younger, with plenty of time to play many games but very little money to buy them. Pirates can actually help to promote the game if it’s good and some of them even pay for it afterwards if they think it was worth it. Of course the piracy is still a big problem on PC, but considering how many PC gamers are in the world it’s definitely worth developing for PC. As for DRM, we just don’t believe it’s working. It’s usually only an annoying complication for paying customers.

Alright, I'll pirate them.

Well turns out that piracy isn't that bad after all Laughing, I'll be glad to be the major promoter Razz

Hm, is this a sign that a sequel is in the works?

I am still listening to the game's soundtrack once in a while. Last time was two days ago. Smile

One can only hope. Very Happy If you need something similar, you should definitely play Samorost 3 (if you haven't already), it has beautiful Machinarium-ish vibes, only more nature-oriented. Amanita's touch is magical, and Tomas Dvorak always nails it with brilliant soundtracks.

The best, no doubt. I was listening (and still am) to this alone & w/company along Eno, Guentner, Jon Hopkins, Mahler, SOTL, Landing... stand-out track.
Incidentally, your user name reminded me of this, another stand-out VG OST track:

No news of a sequel sadly, but the original game just got an overhaul (called Definitive Edition), abandoning ye ol' Flash engine:

Quote:
Changelog:

- Completely new custom engine
- Improved full screen support. The game now uses all of your screen even on high resolution displays
- 12 new achievements
- Support for Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamepads (other controllers with experimental support)
- Steam Cloud saves
- Localization to 14 languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian
New Steam leaderboards: "Quickest Win" and "Explorer" (based on distance traveled)

Devs are pretty free with the term update, so I never get excited about the word alone, but this is genuinely great news. Most devs would have rereleased for 20 bucks or something.

I asked them on facebook yesterday. Yup, Amanita Design still considers its playerbase persons over a wallet.
