I presume so, I bought it and it has the same behavior. Aka connecting the moment I go to the career tab.
Btw, this game ruined all the racing games for me. Can't play anything else anymore. GFX and stage design are miles ahead of anything else. Anyone here playing still ? Anybody past Clubman with any other vehicle other than H1 ?
I'm considering grabbing it with summertime (and a bit more free time) approaching, are the new stages any good ? By that I mean stuff that the first game offers and that I believe the second game didn't at launch, such as a Monte Carlo-esque stage.
Is the multiplayer active at all ?
have you played DR1? If not, no harm in trying this one I guess. I loved DR1 and DR2 (imo) wasnt nearly as good, including art style being more cartoony and colourful which didnt help. My main issue though was how driving felt and stage composition.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is a strange beast indeed. I played the yarr for 20-30 hours until I ended up uninstalling it after the first seasonal rehashed update, since having no offline progression felt terribly stale (courtesy of Racederp.net) and the addition of tracks that I already knew (repainted by adding orange console palettes and nextgen bloom) wasn't exactly exciting.
It's a shame because the tweaked driving model can be really satisfying in my opinion, especially when it comes to loose surfaces. The weighty cars are reminiscent of DiRT Rally's RFPE Mod, although tarmac unfortunately still is the series' weakness and the AI times here are simply not consistent enough for the offline experience. Some of the stages are well-designed, others feel oddly redundant. It's a mixed bag full of questionable Codiechoices, one step forward and two steps back.
creamapi works with this? i see it has like 300 dlcs
They were selling an expensive Deluxe Edition which was supposed to include all the future updates/seasons (DR's rehashed contents), only that version turned out to be incomplete and they released another one called "Super Deluxe Edition". The Codies just joined the big boys Ubisoft, EA, Activision and whatnot, reinforcing the amazing status of tripeA gaming v2019 and onwards.
Apparently the DLC yarring is hit and miss, some stuff gets unlocked while other contents stay hidden because of the online checks. I haven't tried that though, was planning to grab the whole thing at dirt(y) cheap future price but now I'm not sure about that either.
Yep, that's what I'm playing, instead of the Steam copy. I don't want to pay half price game for 3 "new" ported locations and 3 new cars.
BTW, the way CoderpMasters are porting these old tracks is hilarious. They take some from Dirt 4 and some from Dirt Rally, and the physics are not rigged correctly, so some surfaces feel differently from one track (DR2.0) to another (ported). For example, Germany and Spanish asphalt. Also, it seems some effect are missing on ported tracks, such as water splashing from puddles. You see the wipers going, but no splash on the windshield.
The BMW M1 Procar is very fun to drive, but not on snowing Monte Carlo. I felt like I was skating most of the race.
Yeah, that's one hell of a hardcore combo, there's practically no room for error. One small deviation from the optimal line and it's Ken Block time!
My personal archenemy is the Peugeot 205 T16. With its compact size and sneaky turbo it always feels like the damn car is trying to murder me at every turn
Is the game good? CODEX version enough just to fuck around or is the online content necessary to enjoy the game?
Despite all the silly Codieshenanigans it's the best modern rally sim available, definitely worth an isoride (especially if you're not familiar with DR1's contents). On the yarr you won't be able to play the Career mode, though you can still do quick custom offline rallies and championships with any car/track you like.
Yeah, I own the game, and haven’t used the career option. I just set up custom championships. All the content is unlocked from the start, so I just enjoy the ride.

All the historic cars are crazy, especially Group B. RWD is nuts basically. Makes you appreciate the drivers back then.
Take a breath, grip the wheel and raise the revs as the DiRT Rally 2.0 – Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack launches on 24th March 2020 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC. Players who have purchased either DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition or any full Season pack receive the Colin McRae content for free from 24th March as a digital download.
The DiRT Rally 2.0 – Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack features new Scottish location Perth and Kinross with 12 routes, the SUBARU Impreza S4 Rally and SUBARU Legacy RS, and 40 scenarios spanning McRae’s legendary career. Rally fans will test their driving acumen and take Colin’s seat with a range of challenges including time penalties, damaged equipment and mechanical failure. The scenarios take place in nine of the cars made famous throughout Colin’s career, including many iconic vehicles from previous Colin McRae Rally and DiRT games.
Could someone please explain why mainstream media seem to be jizzing over this game like it's the ultimate rally sim ever made, when other non-mainstream outlets seem to suggest it actually pretty mediocre?
Or did I answer my own question?

It's the best overall modern rally sim. In many ways, it's better than the original Dirt Rally, which was the previous champ. After all the DLCs, it's more varied than DR, the physics are much more refined and vehicles have more weight to them. What other modern alternative is there? The WRC series are quire horrible in many ways.

Hmm... I may have to consider it if it's not terrible - and I liked Dirt Rally 1.0....Thanks for the info

When it comes to actual physics, sense of immersion and genuine adrenaline rush you really can't go wrong with the game. It may have a very questionable business model with a sensation of laziness that permeates the product, but it's definitely not an imposter. It requires attention, precision and dedication to succeed (as it should be!), which is the opposite of what the more forgiving Dirt 4 hybrid tried to achieve. Ultimately, it's like a very gifted student who just settles for 'good enough' even though he'd have the potential to be utterly exceptional.
