From the original team, very unlikely. Random people, maybe.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

Yeah back then the hardware on consoles were more custom made or how to say and less unified in architecture so ports even to newer hardware could be inferior to the original or needed to have several things remade or at worst dropped.
Having the source data being in Japanese including the custom script language can't have been easy for Shenmue 1 and due to the age and probably only partial source code availability if even that it's not like finding the original lead programmer or other coders from the team would have helped much.
(At least they are no longer using pseudonyms and more closed communities at this point.)
On the flip side it also gave some flexibility and allowed for some really interesting effects via software such as the custom sound chips on many of these consoles for one example which from the article was also used here. (Though when ported to a different system it becomes a problem instead.)
For the games themselves it sounds like the team really tried making something truly special and had a amazing attention to detail and pushed the hardware for all it could do even if it had to sacrifice load times and draw distance so there's systems for schedules for characters, weather and time of day playing a role and of course the combat mechanics being almost a fighting game in themselves as I've understood it adapted over from Virtua Fighter.
Will be most interesting to see how the third game stacks up, it won't have the budget but it'll be fun to see the continuation of the story although originally it was a lot longer I believe so it probably won't end just yet.
(15+ arcs? I may have to check up on it but yeah it was a really big tale planned over multiple game installments and other media over several years I believe, risky and ultimately too costly for the publisher I suppose.)
It's a shame that they had so many problems with the porting job, the current PC version unfortunately is not exactly a joy to play due to the cumbersome controlling method. This is one of the cases where a few tweaks would be able to improve things exponentially since the atmosphere, story and visuals still hold up fairly well (minus the QTEs, ファック them in the poopchute).
Anybody knows the name of the song that plays whenever you open the launcher to choose between the 2 games?..
Also the song from 1:57 here?

I've searched for that but no luck, it doesn't sounds the same (I know the game's music got remastered, that's why)
Also, i've been looking for a mod to SPEED UP TIME...SpecialK i guess?..But how do you install it if i have the CODEX version?...Mod asks for a Steam folder..
EDIT: Tried to put the 3 files but the game won't open then. Patch 1.02 in it and using Windows 7... Is there a way to keep the savegames and going back to the original version so i can do the time skipping thing?!...IT IS GETTING ON MY NERVES...

There's no "way to point the mod to the game files" since it's just 3 files and the txt one mentions nothing..
There'd have been results for that on google but no luck..
