Personally I really like the settings and the historical characters you get to meet in all AC games. I only started despising the series after AC3 and that was due to technical issues and that they never really fixed the freerunning.
The cities they create and let you interact with are beautiful and they always felt alive (even though the AI wasn't the best) but the technical issues in the recent games have been appalling.

AC1 -> It was new, nice story great cities , underdeveloped repetitive mechanics,
AC2 -> Overall massive improvement and redefiniment of AC1 in great setting , story was meh
ACB -> Rome is great , great idea with brotherhood , other than that just small improvements
ACR -> Ezio saga's finale, nice city, small improvements over ACB but some parts were badish(tower defence sections, puzzling sections) - Parts with Altair memories were amazing
ACR LM -> nice idea with puzzsling section and explanation of Subject 16, but it could have been much more - not just copy of the sections in base game
AC3 -> for me boring setting, great idea with the Frontier and Ship battles but underdeveloped. Connors own story feels rushed and goes too fast through all the history moments and connor must be everywhere. Haytham is cool
AC3 - ToKW -> Great idea with alternate reality and for me much more enjoyable than base game.
ACL HD -> Biggest problem of this one is the handheld origin and small scale , some nice ideas but underdeveloped (costumes) and some straight handled features - although i love the Mayan section
ACBF -> Evolution of Ship battles and frontier from AC3. Amazing pirate game in Caribic. Doesnt work that good as Assassin game. Story is not that interesting
ACBF - FC -> Feels more Assasin-y than BF, but feels a bit ushed. Ade is cool Wink
AC:Ro -> will judge PC version later - but looks like smaller scale Blag Flag clone in colder ocean with inverted minigames. Also the play as a Templar seems cool
ACU -> will judge when i finish it - but 3 hours in game i really like it - Paris is amazing, love the time travel sections, love the improved gameplay(harder fights, new parkour and stealtg), but they need to tweek it a bit as its not ideal yet Also there are some really dumb design decitions (4 currencies, too much social bullshit and microtransactions )- too bad its technical mess right now , but definitely not that bad as people say

Overall i love the series mostly for historical aspect and for running in historical cities and stuff. Less so for story and combat.
So i am pretty sure i will enjoy AC:V just for teh setting i want since AC2.

same here. no matter how shit ubisoft is as a company, the love and detail that goes into the worlds in the AC games always pulls me in.

Yeah, the historical fidelity (well, sort of) is one aspect that I like about these games, despite the heavily recycled gameplay/ideas, lack of innovation and the usual mess that will inevitably follow because of their chronic lack of QA. Cool Face

If only that attention to details was channeled into other branches as well (writing and design for example).. It's a real shame that these games have never managed to jump from nice showcases to something more and deeper. *grr*
All them AC games always appear like giant wasted opportunities to me, I can't stress that enough Crying or Very sad Razz

Creating a great world, makes everything else look even more shit in these games. That's the saddest part of this series.

I actually didn't think they'd change it, Black Flag also leaked before announcement and they didn't change the name. Wink

Well for us on PC that division would be Ubisoft Kiev so I'm not expecting too much though it'll probably be in better shape on release than Unity was. Smile
(Bug and glitch wise at least, performance is a different problem though still important.)
