They should make a mod for this and do "Attack of the clones", at least there would be a good excuse for having every texture looking exactly the same.
Yes, yes I'm back.

holy crap
I suppose the latest generation of graphics card doesnt have a problem with rendering a few models many, many, manymanymany times.
Just wonder if the Radeon 9xx0 and FX 5xx0 can handle those really
end-game big battles with several thousands soldiers.

that's not funny, it's simply not possible with todays hardware to display up to 10000 units where each of em looks different.
We'll probably see that in the next Total War game.

Activision are "men of the people".
They maked a game that can run smoothly on every average comp.
You, stupid rich american, think that the whole world is rich, happy, and fat.
But some people are poor, and cant afford a "w00t P4 800 3800mhz 5000mb ram w/ 6800ultra !!1!!oneone".
No "elite" game. And try (I think I ask too much for your minor intelligence) to accord more importance for the game itself, instead of its look.
Play Hearts of Iron, and try to say somethin different than "Aaah ugly like 45453453 yo, pass"

on the install you need a p3 1ghz sumthin sumthin. i have a p4 3.06 1536mb ram and a 4200Ti. i only experienced minimal lag when ALLLLLL my troops were fighitn ALLLLLLL of the enemy on my screen. i had all my settings on the highest except the res which was 1024 x32. Still a great game and in the tutorial part there was an alliance and you couldnt atack the allied members which was good but woulda added a nice twist. only a few things i would change about this and that would be the realism and blood. for instance arrows dont harm team mates neither does horses running through your footmen. overall id give this game a 9/10 on the basis that there are more tropps and deployable tactics in the final relase which im certain. as of now its still a 7/10. and i compared it to BFME because thats what everyone else is comparin it to and with release dates so close u cant help but talk about them. I wouldnt be surprised if this game does get overlooked by a lot of the public yet gets awards from all the top magazines.

I am sure ther is friendly fire in the demo.
I have been shooting way to many of my own troops with my archers.
Indeed it would be really nice to see blood and gore in this game.

Friendly fire is indeed implented. You must be careful using those war elephants, since once givena direction and running, they dont take the time look for a way around every single soldier. SAme with archers, arrows kill everyone.
As for engine handling many troops. So far I haven't experienced a single performance problem, even during the greatest fights everything runs smooth.
and try out this mod:

you play tutorial war as gauls. Battle rocks;)

bro what u on about ? u must be playing a dif game.
Arrows DO hurt team mates.. and charges with horses/elephants can hurt your guys..
Also a neat thing.. if u have your say archers behind a wall of soldiers.. and then u march throu the archers.. the soldiers will go into collums to let the archers go throu.

There's no cpu/gpu-work extra needed for having different faces on the units. The only thing needed is more memory storage for the textures that are used. You could just smack different face-textures on around 10KB a pop on the models, and that would majorly impact the game. I'm not saying we need 10000 different faces, I say we need more diversity, make 60-100 faces (that's about one meg of texture data, on modern graphics cards, that's roughly 1/64 1/128:th of the cards total memory, IF it's stored directly there) .

That wouldnt impact the game at all.
You just go zoom in and look at the faces of your soldiers while they die. The game is about strategy and tactics not about looking at how pretty your soldiers are.
Gameplay is more important than graphics, and Rome really looks good enough to please most people who NEED good graphics to even touch a game.
No strategy game ever had different faces on their units, there's really no reason to request something like that.

Truth is, you won't even be playing the game from the angles you regularly see from the screenshots - it'll look like the old Total War series, but better. And the units there looked like shit - the game itself on the otherhand
I agree it would be nice but I have to respect the fact they haven't done it for a reason - and the possiblity it might be a moddable feature (they say it's been built for modding in mind - unlike the previous games, although they still got done to death).
Personally I would prefer more detailed unit textures in the form of dirt and wear and tear - they appear all too clean to me.

Game runs fine here. Maybe like 20-30 fps at 800x600x32 with everything at default.
