Do enemy AI still materialize full 20 stack armies out of thin air in a single turn? This is what killed the campaign for me back when I tried it close to release. That, and having to play ring-around-the-rosy chasing down a single unit or two on the campaign map indefinitely (as soon as I'd move away they'd siege ).
Lots of that comes from the "renown" units you can just recruit anytime with gold. The AI cheeses it heaps. They're putting a turn cooldown on it so it should help a bunch.

ai hasnt evolved from being the 3 year old todler in strategy games since like the year 2000
games like civ and total war are totaly ruined by it , and the worst part is its not going to get better in our gaming lifetime
Name a game where the AI is good. Diff. is mostly upped by high damage against the player/low damage against enemy.
unity of command had pretty good ai
thats because the devs programmed a good set of rules and based on past engagements and clear victory conditions , the ai in total war just fuck about with no clear set of goals, u can still bait armiers with smaller armie out of their c ities , ever since the inception of this 3d campaign map , stacks just sitting about doing nothing
however i do remember for a fact medieval total war 1 , had great ai, cause it was a simple boardgame like campaign map, the ai was brutal and unforgiving ,only heroic wins in battles could turn the tide
The Old World has changed massively since Total War: WARHAMMER first Launched. With the proliferation of new Races, sub-factions, Legendary Lords, monsters, magic, Mammoths and more, the original Races and Legendary Lords have become increasingly embattled.
So the chief request from players – and one that’s grown in volume with every DLC and FLC release – is that we bring the old-timers up to fighting trim with the new guys.
Your wish is our command. This is the update that supercharges the foundation races.
All the old Legendary lords get bonus campaign buffs and extra skills trees. The Empire, under AI control, starts with an entire province, giving it a much stronger start. The Warriors of Chaos have a whole slew of tweaks and changes, increasing their campaign momentum and enabling easy vassalisation of Norscan tribes. And Wood Elves finally have new followers (Yay!) If these changes appear sweeping, it’s probably because they are, and the Old World is in for a shakeup.
As always, we’ll be paying close attention to your experiences and feedback, and based on that, we might reign in some of the changes. But play it and judge for yourself. We want to let these changes bed in before we consider any redress.

Pfff. I'm willing to bet that by turn 100, Franz will still be sitting in Altdorf with his thumb up his ass, waiting to be steamrolled by Chaos. They need to forceably script Empire faction confederations every 5-10 turns or something. I don't think I have ever seen an AI Empire do anything of merit in any campaign I have played. I think the best bulwark against Chaos I ever had was from the Vampire Counts, where in one game where I was playing as Orcs, they basically took over the entire north.

Dunno, whenever I play, I see the Empire making confederations left and right. Especially when I'm at beef with another Empire-friendly human faction.

I guedd we will see after this patch - they claim they reworced the races quite a lot but personally notreally that versed ingame to judge from the changelog
Don't you have to update Cream with new app id information for each individual DLC first though for it to work? Then again if it's built right into the game it might be unlocked automatically and that's all that's needed for that.
So you use the cream api and it does what it is supposed to do and yet you are pretending to be surprised?
Just lol
I'm using a creamAPI from like 3 months ago. Yes, I am UTTERLY surprised that it has unlocked all the brand new content as well. It doesn't even have the app IDs for the latest DLCs.
The last attempt I got to ... turn 250ish I think, before I gave up (not that I had to, but it was clear that wouldn't get any better). On legendary difficulty, that is.
And I was wondering... what ever happened to the Chaos event? The Everchosen never appears. Makes the whole thing kind of more difficult, i.e. the Empire/Kislev/Britanny/Border Princes are all alive and kicking full strength vs me lol.
I mean I am good, but not THAT good ^^. And to be honest, if it wasn't for that stupidly apathetic AI, they could have easily overrun and killed me... a long time ago lol.
Ah, nevermind, bought the game for 20 bucks and used the creamapi for the dlcs. Will buy WH2 anyway on release day, can't wait for my lizardmen to roflstomp all over both maps.
Norsca are playing a little like a mix wood elves, chaos and orcs.
Turn 40 by now and the start is veeeeery slow. Tried VH at first.

Not sure which settlements I should devote to the Gods and which to colonize myself...guess I'll take the whole North first, then use all empire cities without a port except the capitals for the Gods.
Bretonnia has to go first anyway. I hate those guys.

Actually, start is very fast, if you play aggressively enough. E.g. it suffices to defeat the enemy Norsca Lords on the battlefield to subdue them (force them into a confederation). Also, you can go raid settlements on the coast below early on for some nice gold injections. It's later where it gets very slow because you face all the human empires at once lol.
Seriously tho, where is the chaos invasion event !!?!
Edit: Ok found it, you need to get to level 3 worship with a god and then the Chaos Invasion starts and you can either join it and roflstomp everything or.. oppose it... but why???

Gonna start a new one.
I have faced Chaos so many times, I love the idea of rolling with that tide while not playing Chaos myself.
