Hopefully this game will drop in price as quickly as BF3 did. I might grab it when it gets cheap.

Yeah the audio issues are still unsolved, but it has never been stated that they were. DICE mentioned they're aware of the problem and working on a fix though.

So I thought that as some people are managing to play this game without too many issues, I decided to create a totally separate Windows 8 install, with all updates (not including 8.1) and no other progs installed.
The game suddenly plays like it's supposed to - no lag, crashes, and I'm getting 60+FPS on at least medium detail, with Ultra still scoring between 45-60 fps depending on the map.
Not 100% sure why - obviously something on my main install is causing issues with this specific game, but Ijust played a few hours with practically zero issues.

I've had the core parking trick applied since last year, but sadly it didn't help. The only way for me and my 570 to have stable 60fps all the time in 1080p is to play on medium/low details, AA disabled..and even then, it still stutters when things get nasty (yes Shanghai, I'm looking at you ). I've also had the chance to try some of the other maps too (Conquest Large), they weren't bad, but not that good either in my opinion. The level design could have been more interesting considering the evolved engine and all. Still quite enjoyable (haven't tested the tropical one + railway yet, though).
*Note to self* avoid Operation Locker like the plague, it makes Metro look like it's a brilliant map. Seriously, whoever designed that should be fired asap (don't worry, Activision will hire him shortly after )

4treyu wrote: | Oh, you think so ixigia? I really hated and avoided Metro like the plague but Operation Locker seems a very much improved version of it, with many more options and strategies.
I've noticed many people having problems to take advantage of the map. For instance 2 days ago half the team was fighting at the central flag (C) and the enemy suddenly took the flag nearest to our base, which was A (happens a lot, much more frequently than in Metro, plus there's 5 of them!) I got to the task of recovering it with a few other people from my team and they attacked this flag always from the same central corridor which leads to the bottom section, so they kept getting killed by the well positioned defenders at the top level. In one of those rushes towards the flag, I decided to take one of the several alternate routes which leads to some stairs that got me to the top area of the flag in no time. Needless to say I took the whole enemy squad down, with a couple of knifings added to the mix |
The layout really didn't really work for me, I found it even more uninspired :<. Ended up winning two times there, making lots of kills in many different ways, but there are always those 2-3 bottleneck points that ruined all the fun with them campers waiting for you, strategically ready to kill whatever they spot, and you rarely have time to react quickly.
Also there was no cooperation whatsoever when I played, since with the corridors everyone was just spraying bullets mindlessy no_fucks_given_mode, just like Metro. Meh. It reminded me of Medal of Honor 2010 multiplayer, not a bad feeling!
Let's just say that I only like big maps with open spaces. I'm one of those who bought BF3 Premium and never played Close Combat (well I did, once xD).

Yeah cooperation is key in this kind of map, at least 2 or 3 squads of people who are playing together. I agree with you about the bottleneck points, but I found out that there were ways to divert people from them by attacking other points.
The same lack of team coordination on your team could apply to the rival team. Unless they're very well coordinated defending absolutely all the paths, I think there's always a route you can take to cap behind enemy lines.
