Lolz I just noticed how they "optimized" this game with the patch. They simply removed graphics features. With patch car doesn't have shadow anymore, only that blob thing. With patch smoke is almost invisible, and also can't see in the screenshot but they removed asphalt reflectivity too. Patch also lessens damage and some LOD on buildings (not visipble in pics). Lame EA, very lame. Both pics with max settings I double checked (1st pic without patch 2nd pic with patch installed):

Need for Speed Undercover v1.0.1.18 Patch (aka DLC)

Graphics downgrade introduced with patch 1.0.1.17 probably kept in this patch too. As I mentioned earlier game looks significantly worse with 1.0.1.17 patch applied.

I'm not sure what you mean by unplayable. Unpatched version is very playable for me, ~50-70FPS, and patched version runs tiny bit better, but looks hell of a lot worse (because they removed smoke, car shadows, street reflections etc.).

Starting May 31st 2021, Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them. In-game stores will also be closed from May 31st. This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on August 31st 2021. Until that date, you will be able to play and race your friends (and rivals) online. From September 1st 2021 onwards, you can still play the games and use the respective offline features of these titles.

So that's it-I have Need.For.Speed.Undercover.CLONEDVD-THEPIRATEGAY, so there's the problem.
