Ryse is a simple and repetitive game.
Let's be real here though, worst game in years? That's just taking it way too far imo.
It's playable, which is much more than you can say for a lot of other shit that comes out.

Did it deserve an award? Of course not.
Does it deserve all the hate it gets here? Not in my opinion.

I usually agree when the hate train comes around here but Ryse's biggest problem is that it's boring. Boring games aren't actually the worst.

I'm talking about games I played. I cannot think of a worse game I've played in recent years, and I complete around 40 games a year, max I can achieve with my free time.

Finished this game in one sitting. Was 5 hours. Combat was very straight forward, very easy. FOV raped my eyes, and the game might have had some nice places, but the horrible FOV won't allow you to take it in.

Overall, I'd rate it 2/10. And that single point is for the roman setting.

finished it too and despite the bad review's around, i enjoyed the game Smile
it is right, there was nothing special in the game and there is alot of potential inside the game that never came out, but it was fun to play.

I sure as hell didn't see any of that potential.

The combat was overly simplistic. The story also overly simplistic. And I bet that FOV was only created to rape our eyes.

The only thing, that was good, was the setting.

The design decisions will make a lot more sense if you realize/remember that Ryse was originally a Kinect-only game.

Yup, true. Razz I actually think this proves that they failed twice. Because they could have at least implemented some kind of sword swinging technique to match it with the Kinect techlology, something anal..ogic and dynamic, but nope. Proper gameplay elements? Vade retro Satana. Let's go for the universal design: awesome buttons!

Why am I doing this to myself? I said I wouldn't even download this piece of shit and yet I did. Ah, the things I have to do to test my graphics card...

+ pretty graphics

- which often feel like a downgrade from Crysis 3, perhaps due to how corridor based everything is? The lighting is definitely improved though.
- corridors
- gameplay is easy AND boring AND tiring. Wait until the enemy flashes a certain color to press the right button on the controller? Whaaat? I want the battles to be fast and challenging what's with this slow motion bullshit Facepalm

Yeah, I was the same too.. grabbed it because I figured it would be a good way to kill a few hours and to give my card a workout, played the first couple of areas and was utterly bored, so I deleted. Terrible game.

More variety would have been nice, why do all the fatties with shields look the same, I thought this game was about the looks, one fatty can have a pink shield, another a scar on her face or a different haircut.

Well some of them have nipple piercings... Razz
(And apparently they love pain. - http://postimg.org/image/p5d70hzxb/full/ )

But yeah each enemy type in Ryse looks pretty much the same minus some changes in particular levels such as fighting the "goatmen" instead of the plain barbarians.
