Have they improved mobs variety? It used to be somewhat limited tbh..And what about the story? Is it a decent one or just pure shit?

Another thing.. When I played it I didn't like its levels..they were kinda boring and simplistic

Development will not end today. We will continue to improve and update Victor Vran with free features and content. Here is what you can expect in the near future:

The free Tome of Souls DLC will introduce a brand new weapon type that unlocks new active abilities and a spellcaster playstyle. Of course, there will be legendary tomes of forbidden words and endless power, such as The Nekonomicon and Fifty Shades of Slay.
The free Highlander Outfit DLC will open even more character build options and an exciting new look for the title character.
The free Cauldron of Chaos DLC will add a huge new map which will offer a randomized layout, encounters and daily challenges.
A Local Coop multiplayer mode will allow two players to play together on the same system.

Nekonomicon? cat magic? (This isn't a JRPG though but I suppose the tome of black magic known as the Negronomicon wouldn't be considered politically correct.)
(No idea what the slay tome could be for, certainly not for paladins though as that's Fifty Shades of Pray - complete with lay-on-hands centerfold.)

Just an FYI to people; these only work if you're "online" which of course can't be done with the Yarr copy. Oh and it uses double buffering vsync which hobbles framerate down from 60 to 30 if it even MOMENTARILY drops. Trying to force triple buffering or any kind of external vsync causes the game to hitch and stutter during movement.

Facepalm

In the end I settled for installing on SSD (it's only 3.5GB) and using nVCPL to set "adaptive" vsync. Seems okay for now and it plays really well on a controller too Smile

~edit~

Played for a couple of hours so far, this has turned out be freakin' great! Exactly what I hoped it would be like.. and the "Voice" is hilarious! It's the Stanley Parable narrator and he keeps confusing the two games grinhurt

Bottomless Pit is kinda disappointing

I finished several rounds and items I got were bad.. Mostly it was some gold,1-2 grey, 1 green, 1 yellow per round (3+ waves of enemies)

Considering the effort it took to finish these rounds it's laughable tbh because it is much easier and what's even more important much more profitable (rare items wise) to make several runs through some areas\make some boss runs.

I'm playing on hard.

Another thing.tbh I was expecting a randomly generated dungeon like ADOM has, but, of course, more simple, and definitely something more than just empty, small arenas with waves (sometimes the number of mobs spawned was a bit ridiculous for such small arenas all things considered) of enemies..

This is disappointing too,

Still, aside from that, I'm loving this game. It's a great fun in co-op and the gameplay is great.

PS Dat rapier the demon merchant sells there is fucking awesome Very Happy

Damn the game starts to run like shit later on. I just reached the hunting grounds and the FPS keeps dropping all over the place. I can run Witcher 3 with 80 fps on almost max settings, yet this game is giving me trouble?

-edit I guess it's an SLI issue. After forcing single card mode the fps issues stopped.

I had to turn off MSAA and lower shadow quality too else it would hitch and drop too, yet strangely enough... the CPU/GPU usage is always low, and the GPU usage is so low that the card doesn't even boost up to full speed.

Played it for 2-3 hours now, and i have to say: meh.

I didn't expect that much from the game when i watched some gameplay videos back then.
But after playing it for myself, the gameplay is very simplistic.
- no skilltree
- every weapon type has different skills, but only 2 skills in total
- very limited equipment choices
- the jump feature has no real use. Often i was not able to jump over simple walls
- the camera and movement system sucks balls. I move around by holding the left mouse button, and more than often i couldn't move through passages because a wall was in the way. Had to turn the camera first and use single clicks only

meh/10

I'm lvl 45 atm and although initially I had the same impression now I think that what the game offers is enough

1) different and upgradable cards
- simple tier upgrade (grey-green-yellow increasing their stats),
-divine+ wicked enchant adding specific additional effects,
-legendary cards that have specific for a weapon X enchants or even specific for a weapon X special attack enchant \ or specific enchant for X wicked or divine cards you have equipped
-cards are used in transmutation to change weapons stats, to upgrade outfits

2) upgradable demon powers (grey-green-yellow - legendary)
- powers can be used for adding or improving 28 weapon properties (the more rare they are the more they add per transmutation)
-powers are used for upgrading outfits

3) rare power stones to add enchants or improve them

4)a number of outfits that offer different strategy (you'd better build a deck\get weapons keeping in mind outfits stats)

+ not relevant to character customization but still

- challenges

- fast paced entertaining combat ( grim dawn and others I'm looking at you!)

- HEXes system present challenges and reward( additional XP \ loot) and you can actually choose them separately if you are not playing on hard

- bounties & treasure maps

-upgradable medkits\ gift boxes

Yeah, I wish that weapons had 4 special attacks instead of two but even now I'd say the game is really good for the price especially compared to Van Helsing (their settings are very similar).

Btw, they already announced 3 free DLCs (new weapon type, new outfit, randomized large map with randomized encounters and challenges) so it's nice of them in our age of paid DLCs and shit

Wut? You should move around using WASD (and shift+wasd to dodge) and hold RMB to move camera. It works perfectly. I'd say K&M controls are great in this game and I'm pretty hard to please controls wise.

It's not without flaws , of course. I want more special attacks on weapons, I want a female character,I want more suffixes\prefixes and more cards types, performance could be better but as I said it is still pretty good and co-op is great. Atm I'd give it a solid 7.5-8/10 all things considered (price etc)

How in the seventeen layers of FUCKING BASTARD HELL do you beat Apocalypse? This fucking thing is absofuckinglutely BULLSHIT. The amount of "Aspects" he summons once you start doing any real damage means you CANNOT spend ANY time doing damage to HIM since his Aspects fucking nail you with enormously damaging, AND FUCKING HOMING , spells that you can't dodge, can't jump, can't roll through. Oh and the floor is lava too.

Seriously, right now I'm thinking "fuck this fucking game"

Nope, fuck it. Uninstalled. Done. Fuck this pathetic piece of trash. Wasted all goddamned day on this.

*cough* Yes, I'm slightly annoyed. This has to be an AP trigger.

@sabin Well that escalated quickly

Games pretty good, especially the combat but I kind of agree with bob about it's lack of depth/customization. Only 2ish hours in right now though. It's not awful by any means but it just needed something more imo. Feels like I've seen almost everything it has to offer in such a short time. I'll play some more though since the combat is so satisfying... Probably. So much to play, so little time.

I was able to beat Apocalypse but I uninstalled anyway. Later in the game combat becomes too tedious - it takes forever to kill enemies and groups of them constantly use abilities to pull you into them where you get mobbed and can't escape.

I agree with Sabin. Late in the game developer start abusing a cheap trick- they force you to fight on small "arenas" and you get swarmed with enemies (Apocalypse, encounter in the demon world, some encounters in other areas).

I killed him with a friend on hard mode and it was a nightmare.(lvl 45+ maybe even 50)

What's funny the Demon World boss was a piece of cake compared to Apocalypse..and you know why? Because the arena was quite large lol

Another thing.. these large champion vampire enraging thralls are just.. lol... They totally rape anything and anyone..Even time stop doesn't help. When we encountered a group of them there was only one thing we could do (and we tried different build& weapons) - I was kiting them spamming time stop and my friend was sun raying them Very Happy However later on we figured out how to slow them down significantly - using a lightning gun applying cripple effect

All thing considered I give this game not 7.5-8 as I stated earlier but no more than 7 but I still like it Razz

Well, we have finally finished the game (renown level 4) After we changed builds and started using vampire blood we roflstomped everyone in the latest areas Very Happy Of course there were some deaths here and there but nothing major. I killed myself several times while having berserk active and wrecking havoc on enemies using lightning gun. I ended up using mostly this gun.

The final boss was not hard at all and it was one of the instances where I accidently killed myself rofl. I had more problem with Apocalypse.

So, in the end I would still give it a solid 7.5. Not 8 though;) It was fun. I hope they'll keep improving it.

Attacking demonic spells (sunray\purging flame, others are not worth mentioning) become almost useless in the late mid/end game. especially considering that you have to stay still and in case of purging flame you get interrupted if you get hit) They really need to make some changes to make magic build viable . Sunray+ time stop combination was really good for some time but as I said it becomes too weak and dangerous to use later on. Hopefully the new DLCs will fix this

Done it... fucking finally! Using my "+overdrive gain" gear for nearly 200% increase in overdrive speed, and spamming Legendary Diamond Shield, effectively meant I had 2 health bars at all times. I hated doing it like this, cheesy crap that contrasts with how I've played the game previously but oh well, at least the fucker is dead. Without Diamond Shield, there's simply no way I'd have done it at all, it felt like an AP trigger it was so ridiculously difficult.
