Whoa whoa whoa, hold the fuck up. NOBODY deserves to be mocked just because they don't conform to your standards of education and knowledge. Most people in here are a lot older than you think, for them it's not uncommon that schooling ending was an event that occurred decades before -- not recently, not last week, not when the knowledge is still fresh in their mind, but decades.

A truly "superior" person doesn't need to constantly throw that in other people's faces, unless they themselves are covering up for their own inadequacies. Mocking somebody in order to make yourselves feel better is the tactic of a coward and a loser, not a superior being. It's childish and immature on a level I cannot even begin to fathom.

For the most part, I was making a general statement ("yourselves" for instance) but the underlying point remains; mocking somebody because they don't conform, or live up, to your - or indeed anyone else's - standard is wrong. It's a cowardly tactic, one bullies employ when they're throwing their weight around to those smaller, weaker, less fortunate.
*shrugs*
Maybe it's just me, but I'm definitely growing tired of it. Frant was right about this, it's nothing but fuel for the trolls in order to further torment and mock others. It's insulting.

Like I said, I was speaking generally for the most part. I know we mock the derps and their game habits/tastes .. but this, and the other thread, have been nothing but outright taunting and offensive insults just because someone feels they're intellectually superior. |

Exactly. I couldn't agree more.
Mathematics and geography were my worst subjects, only managed to scrape a C on both, which I happily accept because I know my limits and my abilities. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses - my strengths lay in English (literature and language) as well as art (though I've not picked up a pencil in almost a decade) and technology. Other people? They may be maths and chemistry wizkids 
I would never, not ever, look down on someone or mock someone for their lack of mathematics/etc skills --- though I do grumble when people butcher the English language with ridiculous spelling and nonsense "leet" speak, because language is the most basic of skills, something used each and every single day. I wouldn't expect an office worker to posses a spectacular grasp of biology.

That can be answered quite simply; how often do I ever use that hateful pear? I call derp on people causing the dumbing down of games, or defending the streamlining, because it's my hobby -- but I would never outright condemn them. People have their own tastes .... and I take more than my fair share of digs over my choice of gaming habits too, don't forget.
