This just in, folks. Film studio Lionsgate (best know for films like The Hunger game saga) just signed a deal with game developer Telltale Games, who are recognized for a variety of first-class adventure games such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us.
"Lionsgate is one of the most innovative, entrepreneurial and impressive content companies in the world today. I'm delighted to welcome an experienced executive like Jon, a leader who shares our unique vision, to our Board," said Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner. "Lionsgate has a great track record in developing and marketing feature films as well as platform-defining premium scripted television. This partnership will accelerate Telltale's ability to create not only original games, but episodic television series based on our game properties – an area at the cutting edge of industry growth."
Well, I think we all know where this is going.
The Hunger Games Telltale adventure Season 1? What else?

(I preferred Battle Royale over Hunger Games but I'm a sick bastard so... ) |
SAW
They already made a couple of Saw video games, but the Telltale approach could be REALLY COOL in the Saw universe.

I really like the Hunger Games. But seriously see how Telltales type of games can work with that franchise

You do?
I really don't see why those series get that much attention. Boring as hell and it doesn't help that Katpiss is played by a 'one trick pony' kind of actress.
With most of these teenage drama films as of late, the idea is decent but the execution is heavily flawed and you are usually left with a bunch of meh actors or good actors turned meh due to the writing.
The PG13 crap doesn't help these kinds of movies either, nah there are older movies that have the 'being hunted' style done better than these snore fests of late.

I just hope that one day they change, or at least upgrade that old engine of theirs, it's getting really distracting with games that don't retain the comic-book style
I know that they prefer to spend all the money on licenses instead, but still!

For once, dubbing might actually be good!
But yeah, taste differ. Just seems that the majority is getting away from my spectrum with each year. :/ Ah well less good movies means more time to waste on other stuff xD
(Never even heard of battle royale.)
Edit: Nevermind I did... thought you were talking of an upcoming/new movie.

| Quote: | Telltale Games lays off nearly a quarter of its staff
90 people have been let go.
Developer Telltale Games, best known for episodic story-driven games like The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands, announced today that roughly 25 percent of its workforce has been laid off.
As Gamesindustry reports, 90 people were affected by the wave of layoffs. Before today, the studio was nearly 400 strong. Telltale says the layoffs will not affect any of its ongoing games. However, moving forward they plan to make "fewer, better games with a smaller team."
"I'd like to express our respect for all the contributions that these incredibly talented artists, storytellers and more have made to this company, and that this decision is in no way a reflection on the quality or dedication of their work," said Telltale CEO Pete Hawley. "We have made available our full career assistance services to help our affected colleagues and friends—and their families—navigate this difficult transition as quickly as possible."
Telltale's downsize comes on the heels of two other, more dramatic shifts in the indie scene. In the past week, Gigantic developer Motiga and Torchlight developer Runic Games were both closed at the hand of their shared publisher, Perfect World. |

They are turning these out at a pretty quick rate sharing the same engine and such so 400 strong is a bit much but then again as said they did release episodes at a pretty quick rate too, still unfortunately to be laid off but that's how it works in the video games industry I guess.
Guessing sales these days aren't as good though they're probably doing OK although these licensed deals seem to have completely overtaken their earlier titles now and the gameplay shift too.

They are doing a 50% off sale on all their games on Steam currently so I guess these new owners are trying to get some of the money back already from their new purchase of the Telltale name and licenses. They already said they are probably going to just concentrate on trying to get all the delisted stuff back on Steam and probably not look to try and actually be a real studio making games for a while.
