Break the glass on your right and take the key.
Go back to the elevator and open the locked container on the right and get the freeze bottle or w/e and use that on the lock.
arriving fashionably late to the party as always, saw a portable version so figured fuck it why not... started playing it, and visually its an absolutely beautiful game... stunning in design and intricacies with its animation and detail. its also very clever in how it delivers clues and story, and the cut scenes are great.. its a wonderful package, and id love to see an actual movie done by the guys who made this, in exactly the same manner and style.
game play wise, some of the puzzles are a bit unfair... if you managed to get through it all without needing any hints, then great for you, but some of them utterly paddled my ass raw. BUT the ones i figured out myself, i definately felt a huge sense of accomplishment and pride so really unforgiving, but still a great visual experience (and aural as well i guess... the music and subtle sound effects are fantastically haunting and surreal)
I find this kind of adventure game dry and boring. No dialog and very little story, just going from puzzle to puzzle.
And then the awful flash, couldn't they use something better? You'd think you could discard an item by just right clicking but no, have to put it manually back just as you took it. Then you can't interupt walking animation , once the destination is set you have to wait until it's reached to do anything else. Especially annoying when you forget yourself in the tall state.
And the best thing of course it being flash game it stores the save games in the same general flash directory where websites put their shit. Too bad I regularly wipe it clean so I lost my progress half way through and said fuck it and uninstalled...

Nice art, other than that clunky flash game.
wow... the fuck? ive seen worse design, graphics and animation on fucking 'high end' ps3 and 360 games. and as for the 'cant interupt walking' thing... yeah you can... you can pick a new destination. and unless your a cripple with insanely slow reflexes, you can just click on where you came from and take a couple steps back and shrink yourself down again.
but whatevz, flash is a great medium... for animation, and clearly, for games...
oh and lack of dialog is a huge point in its favor... the use of memory 'bubbles' is a wonderfully creative way to drip pieces of story to you in a humorous and creative way... its fun piecing the little bits of info together.

You don't say? How exactly is that relevant to my post? But since you went there, I've seen better adventures on Amiga...

Now that I check it again, it depends of the area. But whatever, still feels like a clunky flash game.
Also, you can only detect interactable items when you're close to them or in some cases besides that have to be also stretched or compressed. Pixel hunting at its worst.
You can have your opinion, I'm going to have mine so how about you just
its quite relevant.. youre talking about a dry and boring game, and im saying on the contrary, creatively and visually its a vibrant and stunning game. same cant be said for most games based on fancy 3d engines.
only being able to investigate what you can reach is a perfectly fine mechanism... do you need every actionable item to light up for you so that you can just walk in requiring minimal thought and investigation in an adventure game? kinda thought the whole investigating your surroundings aspect was half the fun in adventure games... besides there are generally plenty of visual clues if youre willing to look.. i think only once did i get stuck not being able to find an item.
and yeah sure, you can have your opinion... just like the people who think halo is the pinnacle of gaming have 'their opinion'...
"detect interactable items"?
I remember adventure games where there was no interaction indication. You just clicked on something and hoped for the best (eg. all old Sierra games).

Again who cares. I'm talking about adventure games here. For me in a good adventure you must be able to look at the objects in the world, so you're getting commentary from the protagonist and same with the items in the inventory. Then you must be able to talk to characters inhabiting said world. You take these things out from a games like The Longest Journey or Monkey Island 2 and the games become dry and boring just like Machinarium is. Oh I know, lets add Guybrush thought bubbles of him getting hit in the face with a cake by mean pirates, teehee... Then port it to flash and add clunky ass controls with 1 functional button.

Sure it is, that's why so many other adventure games have used it like for example... umm... a... and of course then there's... hmm...

That's clever. Console kiddie and Halo argument, works every time.
Unlike you I don't even own a console, try again... And you fail especially hard when I even bring up The Longest Journey but I guess console derp like you wouldn't even know the game. But I bet you think Dreamfall is the best shit ever, that's the game suitable for your brain capacity seeing it's able to come up with that pathetic line of a "joke"...

Good for you. Doesn't change the fact you still missed the mark with that insult.
All I said was, I don't like this kind of adventure game. And I automatically get labeled console derp. At least I didn't feel the need to address people directly for liking the game and resorting to cheap insults. I'm fine with you enjoying it, for me the game didn't "click" so nothing more to discuss. And me deleting my progress unknowingly may play some role in it. So I got pissed and was left with negative opinion.
Everybody who downloaded our game illegally (for free) has now a chance to redeem himself and get the latest version of the game (Win+Mac+Linux) and it’s fantastic Soundtrack only for $5 (instead of $20).
We released the game DRM free which means it doesn’t include any anti-piracy protection, therefore the game doesn’t bother players with any serial codes or online authentication, but it’s also very easy to copy it. Our estimate from the feedback is that only 5-15% of Machinarium players actually paid for the game. If you decide to buy the game, you can be sure you’ll support directly the developers, not any big publisher or distributor.
5-15%? Lol,oh great...another "we came up with a number and in the process made you feel quilty so you would buy this".
I already bought it when it came out,so it won't work on me.
Machinarium dev team reveal three upcoming projects
Quote:
Machinarium became one of the most acclaimed indie games of all time but since the odd but cool adventure game was released in 2009 there hasn't been much news about what the development team at Amanita Design has been working on next. That changed today as PC Gamer revealed not one but three upcoming projects from the team.
The first, due out for free in just a couple of weeks, is called Osada and is described as less of a game and more of an interactive music video with "'Czech psychedelic country music". The second project, shown above, is a true adventure game called Botanicula, where five "critters" are out to save a seed from parasites. That game is due out by the end of 2011.
Finally there's an announcement that will make indie gamers swoon. It's the official reveal of Samorost 3, the third game in the odd series that started Amanita Design's rise in the indie game ranks. It's still early in development but the article states it will be "much longer, much more intricate, and much, much, much more polished than any of the already plenty-shiny Flash instalments we've seen so far."
Oh yes, definitely! I don’t see pirates as plain thieves as I also pirated heavily when I was younger, with plenty of time to play many games but very little money to buy them. Pirates can actually help to promote the game if it’s good and some of them even pay for it afterwards if they think it was worth it. Of course the piracy is still a big problem on PC, but considering how many PC gamers are in the world it’s definitely worth developing for PC. As for DRM, we just don’t believe it’s working. It’s usually only an annoying complication for paying customers.
Alright, I'll pirate them.
